True enough, **psychonaut** , but I would be prepared to feel more kindly towards **Zedd** if his position was that the “Israelites” who “discovered” the Americas weren’t Jewish/Jews, because they were Mormons or Christians or Zoroastrians or something. Because then he _might_ have a legitimate claim to complain when they were described as Jews - from the context of a sincerely held religious belief that they were not, in fact, Jews. I agree that such a belief would not be evidence based, and that, in fact, no religious belief is, but I would be able to contextualise his reaction on the basis that he felt that a specific tenet of his faith about who the “Isrealites” were was being challenged. As it stands though- that excuse doesn’t apply, and (to stretch a metaphor) he’s playing the “you hate Jews” card when the rest of us are playing an entirely different card game. ---

**Zedd** has failed to acknowledge that the offensive usage of “Jew” didn’t originate with **Erdosain**. **Bartman** points out that the annoying little brother Nephi refers to himself as a Jew. Joseph Smith wrote that Nephi was a Jew, but not necessarily a descendant of Judah. Do I detect antisemitism? Smith claims to have translated the potentially antisemitic phrases from Nephi’s gold diary. Was Nephi antisemitic? Or just a fictional annoying little brother? ---
