I really think he paid off a lot of people. I’ve also heard terrible things about his son.
Bradley Delp’s career was shot out of a cannon in the fall of 1976. His suicide was in large part due to him putting a hidden camera in the bathroom used by his girlfriend’s sister, who was staying with them temporarily, and of course he got caught.
TBH, Jeff Buckley is one of those musicians where I can appreciate his talent, but from what I heard, it just didn’t do anything for me (kind of how a lot of people feel about Rush, KWIM?).
He’s better known for getting drunk and jumping out a widow thinking he could fly like Superman…despite that story not being remotely true.
Rock guitarist Randy California died while saving his son from a rip current.
There’s a song about this whole subject. “Now That I Am Dead” (Blair and French) is a humorous take, but is pretty much right on the money. Richard Thompson has performed it solo and it appears on a French, Firth, Kaiser, and Thompson album, though I can’t be bothered to figure out which one.
I’m also too lazy to find a link to either the lyrics or a performance, but SDMB people are smart enough to remedy this, I’m sure.
