# Death by Dust Off

Dust Off- A Serious Fatal Hazard
Interesting read. My question deals with this specifically:
_It is a heavy gas.-Heavier than air. When you
inhale it, it fills your lungs and keeps the good air, with oxygen, out.
That’s why you feel dizzy, buzzed. It decreases the oxygen to your brain, to
your heart. Kyle was right. It can’t hurt you. IT KILLS YOU. The horrible
part about this is there is no warning. There is no level that kills you.
It’s not cumulative or an overdose; it can just go randomly, terribly wrong.
Roll the dice and if your number comes up you die. IT’S NOT AN OVERDOSE.
It’s Russian roulette. You don’t die later. Or not feel good and say I’ve
had too much. You usually die as your breathing it in. If not you die within
2 seconds of finishing “the hit.” That’s why the straw was still in Kyle’s
mouth when he died. Why his eyes were still open._
Why don’t you suffocate slowly? If the heavy gas just keeps out the good air it should take more than a couple seconds for the brain and hart to be starved of O, right?

Conside that while the event may be true, that the kid died from huffing Dust Off, that the forensic analysys may be quite inaccurate as he isn’t a pathologist.
Note too that is is against board policy to cut and paste entire articles from other sites. You may post small excerts or better yet just a link to that site. I will ask the mods to edit your post.

Copying entire(or large parts of) articles or lyrics from other sites and reposting them here is a copyright violation and illegal.
The Chicago Reader, our gracious host, doesn’t want people copying large chunks of content from the SDMB and posting it other places, and they hope that posters on our board will respect others, such as snopes.
