Lunch seemed innocent enough, a lovely restaurant, the company of good friends. A simple meal of roasted tomato on bread with goat cheese, sprinkled with olive oil and basil and GARLIC. Lots of garlic. Too much garlic. I am dying. I may not live to see another day. Tums don’t even begin to bring the slightest relief. Sparkling mineral water, mints, gum, mouthwash, repeated tooth-brushing. I need to purge this wretched being from my system. It is seeping from my pores. You may want to cover your nose while you read this. All I can say is (wait a minute while I dry heave) - please help me.

Crackers usually work well for me in settling an acid stomach. Probably be best for you to add something to that garlic/water soup in your stomach.

“Too much garlic.”
😕
Strange. I recognize all three of these words.
I comprehend their meanings.
But the phrase itself makes no sense at all.😉

Eat a bowl of wheat chex with a spoonful of sugar and whole milk. It will moderate the problem considerably. Soy milk also helps but not as much as the chex and regular milk.

Whew, I thought maybe it was just me, like I suddenly forgot how to comprehend english. 🙂

Parsley. IIRC, parsley counter-acts garlic and tons of other body scent issues. It even keeps it from bleeding out of your pores. Also IIRC, _Breath Assure_ is primarily parsley oil/extract.

It’s not just on your plate for good looks.

I couldn’t agree more. My definition of a recipe that’s not worth using is one that says “serves 4” and yet contains the instruction “1 clove garlic”. TEN cloves, is more like it.

You want garlic, I’ll give you garlic.

The first time I cooked a meal for the LIONsob’s family I was nervous (new girlfriend wanting to impress the family of boyfriend I was crazy in love with. Still am but that’s not the point). It was decided I should cook hamburger in milk gravy, (their version of sos) served over rice.

My father-in-law was a chef. Nobody warned me he took the shaker tops off the huge bottles of spices in the kitchen. Since my Mother-in-law told me the family used garlic in everything I opened the garlic powder to add a dash or two to the pot. The LIONsob’s 1 year old niece ran between the stove and myself right at that time. I look down at her and the entire contents of the huge bottle of garlic powder went into the pot ! :o I asked LIONsob, what I should do, he told me to stir it in. Being young and stupid I did. It was awful. I wanted to die. His mother wouldn’t let me throw the mess out she put it in the fridge which smelt like garlic until they got rid of it . Now, even 24 years later ,if I am cooking for his family, some smart ass will yell _hide the Garlic_.

Too much garlic…Hmm, I know all of those words, but that doesn’t make any sense.
There’s no such thing as too much, there’s just not enough time. Sometimes when I have a SERIOUS garlic jones, I’ll take whole peeled cloves and saute them in olive oil until they get brown and crunchy. Then eat them while drinking either red wine or beer. Then my wife makes me sleep on the couch, because eating it this way gives me foghorn-like, salami-scented flatulence.

BTW, the 40-clove chicken as the Stinking Rose does it is about half of the garlic I use when I make it. I serve half the garlic with the bird, and mash up the rest for spreading on bread. Again, couch-sleeping, foghorn and salami-, etc.

I gave my son the leftovers from a CPK pizza one day. I hadn’t noticed how garlic-laden it was (I just noticed how yummy it was) but then I smelt my son’s BREATH! Good god! A 2-yr-old with garlic breath is really something.

Glove, clove, what’s the difference, as long as it’s garlic.

I love The Stinking Rose, every time I’m in SF I visit there. You can smell the place from two blocks away.

You also must visit Gilroy CA, garlic capital of the world. During harvest you can smell the town from the Interstate. I’ve never been to the Garlic Festival, but it must be a good time.

As long as everybody involved has some, garlic breath is no real problem. And once again (jeez, I was beaten to the punch so many times on this one), everybody repeat after me…

There’s no such thing as too much garlic.

There’s no such thing as too much garlic.

There’s no such thing as too much garlic.
