Back when I was so poor that I was living in my car someone told me that the reason I was poor is because I bought cheap stuff that broke or wore out fast. He said that I’d be better off if I stopped buying $10 shoes and saved that money to buy good shoes that fit well and would last.
While I agree that is good advice, I was wearing the only shoes I had and they were falling apart because they were cheap. So…should I have just gone barefoot while saving up money for a good pair of shoes…or spend the 10 bucks for shoes that weren’t falling apart that I could wear to work to make money and buy food and gas?
Debaser and many other people really don’t know what its like to be so poor that one has to choose between gas money to get to work and buying enough food that you can eat dinner and not try to sleep hungry…because that doesn’t work, so you don’t sleep well and you don’t work well because you are hungry and didn’t sleep, so your boss yells at you and you know that there is a big long line of people who want your job.
Poverty is such a demoralizing thing, it just grinds you down until you are grateful for the rare place that leaves the handle on the water tap so you can get a drink of water.
Is it the function of govt to ensure that people have enough money to retire on?
I would think that ensuring the elderly don’t starve to death had better fucking well better be a function of the government. Everyone who thinks differently is worthless scum who should starve to death.

I do not think it is a function of govt to ensure that elderly people do not starve to death. I hasten to add…I myself think elderly people should NOT starve to death. Do you think there are any other ways to ensure that elderly people don’t starve to death? or…is it the case that if the govt doesn’t do it, then the elderly will certainly starve to death?
I am always amazed how far this nation has come. Most people now really believe that if the govt doesn’t do it, there is just no other way to do it. Pitiful.

Social Security was created to help people retire better. the problem is…noone back then asked, does it really do this? that is always the problem with the left. they pass laws that make everyone feel good…but they never stop to ask, what happens next? The job market is the way it is b/c of the govt. in a free economy, there would be no unemployment. The govt is the great engine of unemployment and poverty in this nation and in every nation.
