If the government borrows money from itself, it gains some debt to itself but also gets the asset of the IOU. If you only count the IOU as a debt and not an asset then you get the number you showed. This whole thread has really opened my eyes. I’m writing my congressional representatives to request that we increase the budget for duck penis research tenfold! Who’s with me? I didn’t even know ducks had penises. Makes sense that it costs a lot to research them, what with all the feathers. ---

On the one hand, there are days when I wish the board’s welcome mat covered a deep pit filled with shit-smeared punji stakes, and the advent of \*\*ubyy \*\*and \*\*Cosmored \*\*is certainly feeding that.
