Debunk this e-mail Re: military service of Dems and Repubs?

I see a pattern of ignoring inconvenient exceptions.

The President Pro-Tem of the Senate is Republican: Ted Stevens. During World War II he was a pilot in the China-Burma-India theater, supporting the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force. He received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Air Medals, and the Yuan Hai medal awarded by the Republic of China.

I don’t understand this comment. I assume you are mixing him up with Zell Miller?

Well, if you’re willing to forgive FDR on this point, you have to let Dick Cheney off the hook as well.

After all, Secretary of Defense is similarly a civilian position.

Yes, you are right. That was a stupid statement on my part. I retract.

How about I gripe, for the legitimate reasons I gave (cherrypicking, omitting many Republican veterans) and resist coming up with a list, also for the reasons I gave (this makes no difference, except as the cheapest of political rhetoric)?

I served my entire enlistment under Clinton. Some of that was in the service of a foreign war (in Yugoslavia). I am currently applying for VFW membership, and should get in easily.

Was Clinton a chickenhawk? I called him my commander-in-chief.

Behold! Brain no worky! Yes!

Excuse me, I’ll just go F4U myself in the head with a hammer now. I plead caffeine deprivation. The point being that I noticed instantly a huge omission.
