Can I wrap the present? The sprog’s birthday is Monday and I ordered his gift today. He’s getting a Fitbit because he’s walking a lot and he wants to be able to track how he’s doing. The package is pretty small so I’m thinking about wrapping it like matryoshka dolls: one box inside the other until he gets to the actual gift. The move is going well. Airman and brother-in-law moved over the heavy furniture yesterday. All we need to do is pack our remaining stuff and move the bookcases, then we’ll be finished. ---

Should I call my friend who buys glitter in frighteningly large industrial quantities and have some drop-shipped? I truly have no idea how she keeps the stuff confined to one room. I’d need biohazard lab-grade air showers at the door and flooring made of lint-roller stuff to pluck the sparkly stuff off my feet. Weird Al was worth the drive. I have no idea how he and the band keeps going full-throttle for two hours with about 25 costume changes. After the show, I was amused that the thought that I’m living a handful of his songs - I’m a white nerdy guy who recently bought a belt made by some Amish people on eBay. No idea how the Amish handle eBay, but the belt is amazingly well made and will probably outlast me. ---

Purging makes you feel better, I think, **Swampy**. Something about clearing out the old shit and organizing what’s left that makes you feel like you have accomplished something. I am such a dumb ass this morning. I didn’t eat when I took my pills, thinking the little bit of soup I had eaten earlier would be enough. Then the pain in my tummy started, and I didn’t want to go out to the kitchen because I am logged in at irk. So I’m sitting here with a burning tummy and didn’t even see the pack of double chocolate milano cookies right next to the computer. Irk shift is almost over, then I can get sheveled and do some irk around here. Groceries have been ordered, but the dishwasher isn’t going to load itself. ---

Well, did go to see _The Secret Life of Pets_ and enjoyed it. I don’t care for Kevin Hart all that much in live action movies, but he kills it with his role here. Just a standard buddy-movie plot, but it kept me entertained for two hours. Then accomplished shopping and came home to find a check for $30.09 cents for a settlement of some class-action lawsuit I never heard of, but what the hell, if they want to give me thirty bucks, I’m not complaining. Alos registered to referee soccer again this fall, and also let them know I’m willing to coach/assistant coach if they need me. At least it will get me out of the house now and then. We shall see. ---

Howdy Y’all! I got through half of my closet today and got tahrd. Thus, the second half gets tackled tomorrow along with all the clothes hangin’ in the laundry room. The next big chore will be goin’ through the pantry and the kitchen cabinets. That should be entertainin’. I might even take time to alphabetize the spices! Dindin was frozen lasagna which I thoughtfully baked, garlic bread and a green sallit. Tomorrow I shall make my world famous Eyetalian Chikin. One night this week shall be majik intartoobz pizza cause I want some. ---

Outside of a Bocuse d’Or competition, there’s no practical purpose to them other than to torment culinary students. Yes, they look pretty, but only until someone takes the first piece. Then it’s a big pile of donut holes, or more likely, a bunch of donut holes rolling around the table as the pieces start falling off. Speaking of fatty, cholesterol-laden yumminess… the implanted heart monitor is healing up. My doc will be curious when I see him next week about what happened to the staples… (hidden to protect the overly squeamish) I pulled them today with the help of a proper skin staple remover.I’ll tell him he shouldn’t have used the absorbable steel. 😛 ---

Iffn he twasn’t there makin’ me wait, my car woulda made it home dry instead of in deluge. 40 mins later its finally letting up. Et tortellini whilst it was deluging. ---

These are dipped individually in boiling sugar syrup that is at the hard crack stage, then piled in a tall pyramid. Sugar strands are spun around it. The name is supposed to be from the French, meaning “crunch in the mouth” In Europe I’m told they are popular as wedding cakes, indeed, the one I did was for a wedding. You can’t make them too far in advance though, as they will lose the crispiness if exposed to too much moisture or humidity. It doesn’t fall apart because the sugar sticks them together somewhat as they are stacked into shape.
