According to this Seattle Times article, [Deep Fried Twinkies](http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?slug=twinkies12&date=20020912&query=fried+twinkies), this delicacy is all the rage at the Puyallup fair. Or if you prefer, you can have deep fried candy bars instead. I think I’ll go be sick now. ---

I ate one last Wednesday. $4 a pop. It is a standard Twinkie, dipped in batter then deep fried for about a minute. It is placed on a plate, covered with a raspberry sauce and a dusting of powdered sugar. I cut it in have and the first thing I noticed is all the cream filling has melted and is soaked up by the cake. It tasted ok, one of my granddaughters did not like it. It is not worth $4 though. ---

Deep-fried **croissants**? That’s too much grease even for me! Ahem. I refer everyone to my long-ago thread, _I have eaten a deep-fried chocolate bar!_ I’d link if I knew how to. You’ll have to stress the hamsters. There’s a fine discussion of all sorts of deep fried stuff. And recipes. ---

I ate a deep-fried Twinkie. It wasn’t too good. Okay… imagine flash-frying sponge cake in the same fryer we’ve just used to deep fry a whole turkey, onion rings, cheese curds, poppers, mushrooms, and god only knows what else. It’s just plain unsettling seeing the oil level in the deep fryer decrease by about an inch when you remove three Twinkies. They were disgusting. Maybe they’re better if you dip them in batter first. Oh yeah, and deep-fried chocolate bars are better than sex. Well, most kinds of sex. ---

Hmm. Yes. Next time, I’d use fresh oil, **Daowajan**. I’m sure there’s a recipe for Twinkie batter floating around somewhere on the internet. I stand by my assertion: deep fried battered Mars Bars are delicious. Also, I understand that some places have deep fried Oreos. Don’t know how those are. ---

On a ‘healthier’ note, I would like to point out how incredibly delicious deep fried carrots, brocolli, and onions (they’re more commonly called ‘onion rings’ :p) are. ---

Twinkies are unfinished Dolly Madison Zingers. Is Hostess too cheap to frost them , or what? BTW, my favorite Zingers are the raspberry-coconut-frosted ones. Zingers are already loaded with empty calories. Why add grease to that? (Especially grease that’s been used to fry other stuff). ---

Lissla, I like doughnuts, but they were meant to be deep-fried, I am talking about perfectly good indulgent junk food that wasn’t meant to be deep fried. Anything chocolate is good, Hostess Ding-Dong, or Cupcakes are good. ---
