Marge: “I didn’t say they couldn’t deep fry your shirt, I said YOU shouldn’t.”

Thanks, **Hodge**. I’m not technically adept enough to link yet. It’s **Aguecheek** who’s eaten deep-fried cheesecake, I think. No one will let me deep fry cheesecake. It’s unfair.

Reporting in from Seattle.
Just back from the Puyallup fair.
Tied the deep fried Twinkie.
Overall it was not bad.
Not great, but not bad
I wasn’t able to finish it.
Just too much after a slab of ribs
and an ear of corn.
and a few scones.
and an elephant ear pastry.
They cost only three dolars, though, not four as was stated earlier.
Not sure if I would do it again…
perhaps…
not as hideous as some of the others seem to think.

this sounds absolutely disgusting. the twinkie is bad enough as it is, no need to add another 500 calories to the yellow treat! something like a deep fried twinkie would just make me feel disgusting all day long, i’m sure…

…however, in the defense of deep fried items, Bennigan’s serves a deep fried ham/cheese sandwich called the Monte Cristo (or something similar), that, although is as bad for you as can be, tastes like heaven. I could theoretically eat (at the very most) one of these a month; any more and i would suffer four simultaneous heart attacks. on the other hand, it may very well be worth it…

We used to eat fried ice-cream in Bali when I was a kid. I don’t know how they did it, but it worked.

In Japan they deep fry everything, including, (and it pains me to say it), the oyster. I am a purist at heart, so when I see somebody defile an oyster by putting it to not only heat but “deep fry”-heat, I shed many a tear.

Conclusion: There are some things on earth that should not ever be deep fried. It is not necessarily an issue of flavor or health, but rather sheer respect for that which we consume.

My bakery calls those ‘donuts’ and they are very, very good.

They have that at a local restauraunt here… you can have it with ice cream or whipped cream… it looks really yummy I keep meaning to try some.

Right. Anyone got any ideas on cheesecake batter? I’ll have the house to myself this weekend. I’m gonna deep-fry cheesecake, I am.

And then have fifteen heart attacks.

A more ringing endorsement I have rarely seen…

I have heard of people making deep-fried hamburgers for their Superbowl party. They went to a local 7-eleven, quickie stop kind of place so they could buy simple burgers (bun, meat, nothing else) because they figured lettuce & condiments would make them fall apart in the cooker. Dipped them in beer batter, fried them up, and they were surprisingly good. This would probably work pretty good with White Castle burgers.
