# Defining "woke"

It’s the one you originally responded to. The point I was making was that most people who use ‘woke’ as a pejorative do so as a form of manufactured outrage, for recreational conversation, and not out of hatred.

No, no, and no. I had in my mind the specific context of calling people ‘woke’.

No, I didn’t. That post was referring to a hypothetical conversation between **thorny\_locust** and a conservative, where the conservative uses ‘woke’ as a pejorative.

I try to provide a definition for the pejorative usage of ‘woke’ in, for example, [post #320](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/defining-woke/981220/320).
