here 'tis, _friday_ and I’m sposed to be editing audio, absotruthfully broken right now cos I was up till 2:30 doing concept art for a proposal (_og-in-kevin_ we better gets it, cos I drew some right purty pitchers!). And no there’s no flippin’ chockies! Only two triangles of white-chock toblerone in the fridge, and it’s so old it’s just kinda waxy yucko solid (don’t ask how I know, all I’m saying is that I REALLY needed some sugar and… yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah). **Lizzles** , I don’ need to worry ‘bout no steenking winter wardrobe from my monkeys, cos we don’t HAVE winter! (that said we do have tropical-type monsoonal-type weather, except the climate change crap has broken all that seasonalness, and now it just rains all the mother-flippin’ time! I got stuck in the middle of the park last night while walkin’ back from the station. Good thing there were some trees to stand under during the lightning storm, or I’da been fried to a crispy frizzle, and then folks would say, ‘oooh, nice perm sweetheart’ and I’d say, ‘buhher off, I hot zarked by ligh’ing’. Just kidding! There’s no trees in the park!!! **Swamps** , can you e-mail me a taco, I’m missin’ me some good _Tehican_ food. Not that I’ve ever been to, y’know, Tehas, or even that side of the planet, but still (are you still in the deepest of Souths good sir?). I needs me a good goddamn Taco, and now I know for a fact you’re my taco-makin’ captain, I’ll be all over you! (oh… sorry… um… was that too forward? Let’s all pretend that didn’t happen). Nothing to see, move along, TMP in progress… **FCM** , um… If you can use a plastic bag to magickally (sic) repell flying debris from your unplugged your PC (always remember to unplug the PC before starting work), does that mean plastic bags are actually _GOOD_ for the environment? #1 son just called to ask if he can be in Drake and Josh, apparently he has this idea that his dad, that being me, who lives on the other side of the world to Americaland, can get him a part in these funny, funny tv shows wot he likes. All good and well, except he has indredible stage-fright (in stark contrast to his old man). But I encourage him nonetheless, and currently he’s appearing in… uh… \*The new Masked Rider, Drake and Josh, Hannah Montanah, The Hulk 2 \*_Electric_, uh… yeah,that’s not funny anymore, etc etc etc. Both kids were shortlisted for an ad recently (for real!!!), but the client dumped the ad budget, so it’s not like they missed the part. Nosirree, they weren’t in it, cos it never happened! And all those standing in the way of the storms… um… jeez. Be ok and stuff! Make sure you have a songbook, a good old singalong will get you through the roughest part of the storm! …or not. I really should be working dammit! ---

Potatoes, fat and salt are all gluten-free unless some Evil Corporation ™ has now discovered a way to make oil out of wheat or barley. Corn, sunflower… don’t have gluten. Gluten-free chips. _Gluten free chips_. Has she never ever been aware that potatoes have _no gluten_? Look! I just developed a completely new type of gluten-free rice! And gluten-free bananas! Buy 'em here! Sigh. ---

When I told her that she can eat wraps so long as the tortilla is corn (you get corn, wheat and mixed ones here), she explained that she would never do that, as the same mills can be used to grind wheat and corn and that would lead to contamination. Then she dug back into her gluten-free pasta. Which of course has no possibility, ever, of having received any contamination from anything; say, from the wheat baguette that she herself had been cutting over said pasta. One of the things she told us when we exchanged medical info was that in many Latin American countries there’s an increasing incidence of celiacs, not necessarily because there’s more celiacs, but because the diet didn’t use to include wheat. Aaaah. Note to self: do not tell Sheboss about visiting Cerveceria Cuahutémoc in Monterrey, México… If someone here works for El Paso, please, put GLUTEN FREE!!!11!!! on your corn tortillas. I know Sheboss can’t be the only person who has this particular brand of stupid. Oh, and she buys a brand of candy which says “gluten free” on the bag. Same as El Paso if you work for Haribo… ---

I think I’d better check and see if my tea-bags are gluten free too, might be important! I’ve been busy this morning writing a fancy database to keep track of projects that our lovely students will be doing soon. They have to pick subjects and arrange supervisors, and all before the 24th October deadline when they are required to submit their project titles to Yours Truly. And before you ask, **Nooner** , yes I did use my lovely book and yes it did work out fine! **Swampy** , if you have any tacos going spare, I can give them a good home! ---

It is true that if you’re celiac it is very important to avoid gluten contamination, and you wouldn’t believe the stuff that’s processed with wheat, or on facilities shared with wheat processing. Complicated. But if she’s eating whole wheat baguttes then unfortunately she’s just dumb. ---

I make sure I only consume gluten free marshmallows and chocolate eggs at Easter. One can never be too careful. I had some ham with green beans the other night for dinner–gluten free, my friends, gluten free. Check your milk–and that morning coffee can be sneaky… I am here in name only and off to work soon. If **Swampus** will remind me later (much) today, I’ll post that recipe for Death Chicken. I just love the name. It stopped raining. We got 3.15 inches over the course of a day. This is great because we truly needed it, but I’m sure there is some flooding somewhere. Nothing like getting all of August’s rainfall in one day (in September). ---

Gluten-free chips is as amusing as fat-free Jell-O. Bah! Screw gluten-free. I like my food packed with gluten. Gluten-filled oranges, gluten-vegetable soup, pot roast with a glaze of gluten, gluten shakes – glutenous maximus, baby! Gratuitous, completely uncalled-for puns. It must be FIRDAY! And I’ve got a big-assed (sorry, gluten-filled) article I need to write because it’s been pushed back repeatedly as other things kept unexpectedly getting in the way that were, on the priority scale, just a little bit higher than a snark-filled review of new iPhone apps. And yet I am here, largely because I’m still caffeinating and won’t feel ready to tackle that particular topic until the portion of my brain responsible for sarcasm and flippancy has fully engaged. Good morning. I’m up, caffienating and at work. I am glad it’s Friday, because I sure don’t want to be here. The one good thing about today is that it’s my “short” day. In other words, I work eight hours instead of nine. Hey **Spaz,** don’t forget the drill for the shed door! Okay, so the bolding thing won’t work here. It’s just this computer because I had no problems with the bolding on my home computer. It’s like my my e-mail set up which does not allow for any bolding, italics, colors, etc. This sucks. **Pie,** I hope you get to feeling better. **gene** , yep, you’re back with your usual frenetic style. I missed you. **Nooner** , I miss my daughter, but she’s home. The problem is, she’s at work or upstairs in her room, or out with friends. So, I basically see her at the dinner table occasionally, or when I have to pick her up from work. When she starts University on the 24th, I’m never going to see her. ☹ Okay, so this not being able to bold names while at work really sucks. Please don’t be insulted if you don’t see your name in bold. It just won’t work here. ETA: Hey, I got the bolding to work! I can’t do it the easy way, I have to actually put the brackets and what not in myself, though.
