Howdy! I went to the doctor today. My new PCP is an osteopath. I really like her, especially after the last [del]bitch[/del] one. She ordered a bunch of labs, so maybe something will come up this time. I’m not really hopeful, since they’ve run so many tests already and came up with nothing in particular. She’s the 2nd or 3rd doctor to mention chronic fatigue syndrome, so I may really be SOL. If it’s chronic fatigue, there is really nothing they can do. I have been feeling a lot better lately, so maybe it was just the medications that were getting to me. Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. **I** am having a peanut butter & jelly sandwich for lunch. It’s my reward for sitting through a meeting in which no one will tell me their requirements for the database, except that they want a database. Apparently, what’s in it isn’t of particular importance to them. Envy me. ---

Mmmm, sammiches… I have a couple leftover grilled cheddar brats and some sauerkraut and some honey mustard–sounds like a plan! Dammit, **Muppet** , now I want Swiss Chalet. And I live right across from one. I don’t want to cook dinner! I want to eat fries and Chalet sauce! I don’t think I’ve had a vegetable today! The dog my parents just adopted has just gone blind. ☹ He seems to be coping, but he was almost deaf before, and it’s sad. Nat and I went into a baby clothes shop, and I’m in sticker shock. I should pay \* how much\* for pants he’ll outgrow in a month? Also, Nat’s currently standing straight up holding on to my leg. ---

So far, Nat’s been wearing a fine mixture of 1. Clothes other people have given him 2. Clothes I’ve bought at garage sales 3. Clothes from resale shops like Once Upon a Child and Value Village I made the mistake of going into a yuppie kids’ store. Ow. Ow ow. Other Quasi-Daughter is working at clothes and food bank that apparently gets way too many kids clothes for them to give away, so she’s been snaffling. Have I already mentioned this? She’s assembled most of Nat’s winter wardrobe, I was just looking for one more pair of pants to get him through until I see her at the end of the month. ---

**LiLi** , fries ARE a vegetable. A deep-fried and heavily salted vegetable, I’ll admit, but a vegetable nonetheless. Sadly, my BabyGap stash has been completely decimated as it’s been nearly six years since I left. I used to have a giant box of stuff saved away for baby showers and the like… since we could accept returns anytime so long as the clothes hadn’t been washed or worn, we’d occasionally get someone coming in to return a stack of things they’d bought long before and then never gotten around to using. We’d take turns snagging those, since the price was ridiculously low even before the employee discount. Just 15 minutes to go before Long Weekend, Round 2. Wheeeeeeee! ---

Okay, search is disabled and I can’t find any of those old username suggestion threads so it’s up to the Mumpers: (User)Name my Daughter!! I think a more gender neutral name would be best, she’s smart and a good writer, liberal/progressive politically, socially conscious, definite Portland chick, an excellent parent, funny, stylish and she reads a lot. Give us some good ideas so she can join up and be a Doper too! Help us out! 😉 ---

First, a question - why the hell isn’t it Firday?? Second - Welcome back, **beebs**! Third - Hanna - this should amuse you. We got an email at work telling us the base was in Hurricane Condition III: \*Destructive winds of force are anticipated within 48 hours. Take preliminary precautions. \* They anticipate that by tomorrow morning, we’ll be in Hurricane Condition II: \*Destructive winds of force are anticipated within 24 hours. Take precautions. \* Wanna know what our precautions are? Don’t bother asking - I’m gonna tell you. If we go to Condition II, we have to power down all of our computers and associated equipment and unplug them. Not bad so far, but wait, there’s more. Those of us who sit by windows have an additional step. We have to cover our monitors, CPUs, and whatever else with plastic bags. Because, you know, if the winds or something blown by the winds break a window, there’s no way it can penetrate the power of the plastic bag!! :rolleyes: The good thing about Condition II tho - they send us home. 'Course if they don’t send my sweetie home, I’ll just be sitting around anyway. We shall see. Oh, and another work gossip thing. The head of our HR group has been canned. Apparently, it had to do with time card fraud. He’d been counseled about it once before. The fraud was said to be in excess of 20 hours a week. Damn! :eek: That’s all I’ve got. Gonna go warm up sloppy joes for me and my sweetie. Yum. Oh yeah, and Palin has a voice like nails on a blackboard. She needs to be abducted by aliens - the ones that stuck stuff up Cartman’s ass. It’s -almost- **Firday** … almost! 🙂 Oh, I quite agree with you about Ms. Palin’s voice, **FCM** ; I’ll go further, though, and assert that she’s a terrible speaker. Yes, that’s right - I’m on a hateration of her and might as well go all the way. 😛 Seriously, though, I was not impressed at all by her speech. Have I mentioned how glad I am that tomorrow is Friday?! No? Well, I am. I think I’m going to leave work early too, to ensure that I’ve got enough supplies on hand at home, because I doubt that I’ll be going out on Saturday. Although we’ll have to wait and see what effect Hanna will have in the DC metro area. Sounds like we’re going to get quite a bit of rain. I’m just wondering what Ike and Josephine are going to do! ---

We, who survived Floyd unscathed! We, who will most likely take a hit from Ike next week, thereby recreating the fabled 1-2 punch of Dennis and Floyd! I’ve already decreed that if serious flooding starts (serious = they close the dorms = it takes a message from Jesus Christ Himself to close the dorms) or if Ike is a high 3 or above storm, I will be paying my dad a visit. And my sisters and their herd. I like hurricane visits. Funny story from about an hour ago: CR and I picked up Toy Roommate from work. She was complaining about an employee who is a major slacker. She told Slacker Employee to straighten the infant section. She found Slacker living up to her name. It contains chicken? I always thought it was just this… tangy salty orange-red sauce. Clove, paprika, nutmeg, celery seed. It’s awesome. And it makes great Bastard Poutine (fries, Chalet sauce, sharp cheddar). I have thus far resisted, but i might crumble when Mr. Lissar gets home, and go across the street. We both order extra sauce, and drink the leftovers.
