I’l like to see Paul McCartney’s cut scenes from A Hard Day’s Night. Everybody else got a short adventure and the one that Paul had is in the book but not in the movie.
The rough cut of Gone With the Wind shown to MGM executives in July 1939 was four and a half hours long, about fifty minutes longer than the final release in December.
I remember that ending, too. I think it was only for the tv release since I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
I want to see the original ending to Pretty in Pink. Duckie Dale ended up with Andy in that one.
Ricard Donner’s version of Superman II, or at least any surviving footage he shot than wasn’t used in the release version.
I don’t expect it as an official release, but I’m surprised that in the Internet Age, no one has ever leaked the footage of Vic Morrow’s fatal accident from the Twilight Zone movie. (Disclaimer: I don’t actually want to see this, I’m just surprised that it’s never come out.)
The footage of the fatal helicopter crash from The Twilight Zone has been shown on several different television programs, usually documentaries; I know I’ve seen it a couple of times. There’s nothing visually gruesome about it — as soon as the helicopter blade touches the water, so much water is sprayed up in a torrent that you can’t see anything. There are no heads or decapitated bodies visible, if that’s what you’re wondering, even after the water settles down.
I thought the Vic Morrow footage was on the internet. In fact, his IMDB entry lists him as appearing in "Death Scenes 2 (1992) as “Himself.”
The original ending to American Beauty.
It is. There are more than a few morbid sites that cater to footage of people being killed and accidents.
I think I’ve seen them. When ABC aired Superman II, it did include a few scenes (Donner’s?) that were not in the theatrical release. I know one scene (where General Zod kills a little boy) was cut not only because it was too disturbing for a PG-rated movie but also because the kid playing the unfortunate little boy had an obvious British accent despite the fact he was supposed to be from Idaho. Also, while the end of movie makes it look like Superman leaves Lex Luther stranded in the Arctic, there was a cut scene where we see Luther taken into custody by the U.S. Army.
No, I’m pretty sure it was another movie, like somebody else mentioned.
Eyes Wide Shut scenes with Harvey Keitel.
How about the scenes from Wizard of Oz that were filmed with Buddy Ebsen as the Tin Man?
I know that some of these actually made it into he existing movie, but they’re all long shots, and you can’t tell it’s him.
There are sections of Forbidden Planet that were in the workprint (used by Louis and Bebe Barron for the scoring) that never made the final film. The Barron orkprint still exiss (the magazine Cinefantastique used it in writing the definitive article on the film about 25 years ago – there’s never been a book on it), and they described the excised scenes and printed a few stills. They’d be worth looking at.
(I want to see the Director’s cut of ** Spongebob Squarepants – the Movie**
Not that I would want to see this either, but there was a filmed but cut scene in The Fly where Seth sends the baboon and a cat through the telepods. They end up being mutated together and Seth has to beat it to death.
I would too, but the gay sex and frontal nudity would have earned it the dreaded NC17 rating. (Thanks to
Dobson for alerting.)
Actually, speaking of deleted gay sex scenes, James Van Der Beek’s were completely removed from Storytelling (in fact, his entire character was removed).
