Deleting a socks' threads and posts

So you’re saying that people shouldn’t be allowed to even make suggestions? That’s kind of a terrible way to run a message board, don’t you think.

See what I did there? I pointed out the ramifications of your comment, except I left out all the steps in between so it really just looks like I completely misinterpreted it.

How did you get from A to B?

See what I did there, asked for how the two are connected? If it’s not clear that the proposed ramifications are accurate, debate that.

Thanks for your comments, you’ve been very helpful. I learned a lot, not just about posting on message boards, but about myself.

I don’t have any problems with mods disappearing most sock threads but if the staff only happen upon a sock thread after it has garnered many substantive replies then it should be left to stand. The sock is still banned, an interesting and informative thread has been saved from destruction and the staff will be all the more eager to nip the next sock thread in the bud. In other words if the mods get there too late then they do more harm than good by deletion. So the occasional sock manages to father an interesting thread, so what? It’s not the end of the world and to throw the baby out with the bathwater in the name of ‘consistency’ is just plain daft.

Completely agree, aldiboronti. It seems the very definition of “a foolish consistency”.
