If you want to know how to get alot of responses, you should run the ad I ran many years ago. I don’t remember all of it, but I remember the most important bit: “female seeks fundamentally meaningless relationship”. I got 168 responses in 3 days. And that was before the internet and email. Of course, they almost all sucked, but hey, there were alot of them. ---

I’m not even in the dating scene,yet I have gotten this identical message many times. tigaxebyb8: Hi there, Im Tony I see we are a match in Yahoo Personals, Cool huh, so I thought I’d track you down and say hi, since your offline I thought I’d give you my new homepage, its 217.170.74.48/tony (put in browser) im recently single and thought I would put some of my pics online Hope to hear from you soon Tony I didn’t put an ad in Yahoo personals, and I can’t find one under my yahoo identity. The message is the same, but the identity of the sender changes. I think he has some automatic system that makes a random I.D., then spews out messages by the thousands. I knew a guy who ran the following ad every couple of months: I WANT WOMAN (xxx) xxx-xxxx he told me that he got a lot of responses, to put it politely, he was not very “picky”. unclviny ---

CRorex, I once replied to an ad that was looking for someone with a passion for the absurd. So if you put up an ad like the one you wrote I imagine you’d get quite a number of responses too. ---

My friend placed an ad in the early eighties to find dates as interested in dogs as she was…part of the ad read “feel free to send photo of your pet”… Our favorite response was “resting or erect?” the poor kid also had many photos, I was screening her mail, she did meet a good guy with a golden retriever . ---

Spooky… :eek: \*\* The messages are not from a person. It is a clever form of advertising, designed to make you think there’s someone out ther who wants to meet you. The point is to get you to USE Yahoo! Personals. I have received similar messages fom several personals sites. ---
