Dem apparatchiks install unrepentant lobbyist and senate race loser as DNC chair

No, not at all.

Yep. The principal function of the Democratic National Committee is to raise money and pass it out to candidates at election time. Secondarily, it puts on the presidential nominating convention every four years.

The D.N.C. chairperson is not a policy-making person. And that’s appropriate, given that the people don’t elect that person.

Ignoring the very thinly veiled rant by the OP, another thing Harrison is very good at is being on TV, an important part of the job of DNC chair.

Second, he’s black and the party definitely need black outreach. He’s also likely done electorally for the time being allowing him to focus full time on the job.

Third, remember the DNC’s role in presidential nominations? For all those who scream every 4 years about IA and NH being too white and too small, now you’ve got a black man from SC which has kinda proven to be an important state for both Republicans and Democrats in recent nomination contests. So, let’s see what the future of the primary cycle looks like.

I don’t mind IA and NH going first, but a strong role for a state like SC would help crush campaigns like Bernie Sanders and that’s definitely a good thing for the Democratic Party.

Yes, this explains why their policital process seems to always skirt around issues and focus on procedure and why the Democrats don’t have any real thirst for power and change.

It’s like the wolf and the sheepdog chatting before they punch in for their shift.

Yeah, and more to the point, it’s the de-facto purpose of ‘The Third Way’.
