Do you contend that Obama can’t do what he did by executive order? The House wants to scuttle that, to hurt some Mexicans, so that the people who make up the GOP base can grin and giggle at the thought of brown families suffering. That’s the policy goal they’re attempting to achieve. The sane members of the GOP have to act in a histrionic fashion because anything that smacks of compromise with Obama makes the racist GOP base angry. And because of gerrymandering, the GOP in the 21st century only cares about primaries, which are won by the base.
