> Oh, brother. Based on your posts that I can remember you actually believe this stupidity you write.

I believe it because I live in a reality-based reality. I notice you clipped off the link I posted from the conservative National Review which agreed with what I said. Here the self-described [The Moderate Voice](http://themoderatevoice.com/34855/why-do-republicans-hate-goverment/) takes fellow Republicans to task for hating government as well:

> [@](#):
>
> …The governing philosophy of many in the GOP is one where government is not simply an interloper but a monster that will destroy all of society as we know it. While such talk might make the base of the party swoon with delight, it doesn’t appeal to those worried about losing health care, trying to find work, or concerned about global warming. They might not want the Big Government that the Democrats are pushing but they do want their government to address these issues.
>
> Such anti-government fervor is working to our detriment.
>
> If Republicans want to compete effectively against the Democrats, they can’t do it by saying they hate government and then ask to be elected to said hated government. Republicans can get elected by trying to make government innovative, to get more bang for the buck.
>
> But that would require a party willing to think again, to devise new ideas for a new day. Are Republicans willing to do that? It remains to be seen.

Again, in the reality-based reality I live in, Republicans gleefully shut down the government. In the reality-based reality I live in, Republicans decided to [filibuster everything](http://i.imgur.com/pDgxItZ.png). In the reality-based reality that I live in, Republicans [refused to confirm more executive branch appointees for Obama than all other presidents combined and also makes qualified judicial candidates wait for extended periods of time to get started in their jobs](http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/senate-gops-unprecedented-obstruction-five-charts). In the reality-based reality, [Congress crushed the infamous Do Nothing Congress of 1948 for doing nothing](http://www.msnbc.com/sites/msnbc/files/styles/embedded_image/public/12.20.13.2.jpg?itok=2xKoQ7_t).

There are problems in the United States that need to be addressed and the Republicans have [issued nothing but inane talking points](http://images2.dailykos.com/images/user/191280/gopplan.png). That one was their famous “response” to the recovery.

Healthcare was broken, so what did the Republicans do? Everything possible to maintain the status quo and they still don’t have any good ideas for fixing it.

Immigration is broken and what do Republicans do? Everything possible to maintain the status quo.

Again, this is the reality-based world, not one Republicans and assholes like yourself would be able to find on a map, let alone exist in.

Oh, but they are [damn good at passing anti-abortion laws](http://www.guttmacher.org/graphics/more-restrictions-2011-2013_sm.png). I guess that you can hang your hat on that if you like: Republicans love governing as long as it’s a uterus.

Bullshit. If the Dems would simply agree to do the sensible thing first, this would have been solved. And the sensible thing, since you are no doubt acquainted with such notions, is to secure the border. Lock it the fuck down. Once that it done, we can decide to regulate the spigot any way we see fit. If we need/want more immigrants we can let in as many as we’d like. But dolts like you and other douchebag dems really don’t want the issue solved, they want _the issue_. And in the meantime, from your head in a p[lace where you can tongue your sphincter position, more illegals—law abiding and not—are able to come in illegally. Of course no one you care about might be raped or killed by someone here illegally. The odds say it won’t happen to _you_, so what’s the biggie?

How many billions of dollars will that cost? Are you willing to raise taxes to pay for it? Or do you just want to cut food stamps, Obamacare and every other social program until they are gone completely? There is nothing sensible about your solution.

Which has little bearing on all of the facts that I provided from the reality-based world that us adults live in which is that Republicans don’t want to govern. I’d suggest you try and keep up but we established that the reality-based world is a confusing place to idiots like you.

Yeah, it’s a dumb “solution” which causes more problems than the problem we currently have.

The sensible thing is that is would stop people from crossing the border into the country illegally. Imagine that. Paying for it is another matter, which like everything else we pay for, can be worked out. Would I be willing to raise taxes to pay for it? Yes. But there’s plenty of other places to find the money.

People here illegally commit crimes every day. The number of crimes committed by those here illegally should be ZERO. We should have a law that every time a judge lets an illegal walk the streets, and that illegal commits a crime, the judge should be help civilly responsible for the crime. Pass that and watch how fast things get sorted out in sensible fashion. And as it turns out, illegals do rape women. And those women are someone’s daughter. I knew someone in TX who was a victim. Just because you’re able to turn a blind eye to it personally doesn’t mean you should.

Maybe we should ship all of the Americans and leave the immigrants here since “Data show immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than the native-born” and “National studies have reached the conclusion that foreign born (both legal and illegal immigrants) are less likely to commit crimes than the native-born.” according to studies cited by those [del]bleeding hearts[/del] Libertarians at the [Cato Institute](http://www.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/irb_june2010.pdf) (PDF).

They wouldn’t come here if there aren’t jobs for them to do. Enforce the laws that make it illegal to hire illegal immigrants and the demand goes away.

Or do you not want to punish the “job creators” who don’t create jobs?

[It’s as good as its going to get.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=18142031&highlight=border#post18142031) Everything that reasonably can be done to secure the border is already being done. (No, a wall running from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific is not a reasonable thing.)

That applies with exactly equal force to those here legally, including the native-born who commit **most** crimes in America, but what can you do that the police are not already doing?

Feel silly adding to a pile-on but since it was directed at me: the fact is that removing all illegals wouldn’t significantly change crime rates. Another fact is that Australia has illegals despite not even having a border to shut down. So you are proposing a massive amount of security spending just so you can have some illusions of being safer. I know you think you’re being the voice of stern reason but it reads to me as more chicken little thinking.

Not to mention that his 4-point plan for how to secure the borders is entirely content-free, and reads like an homage to Python’s “How to Do It”, here included for your enjoyment:
