“Hey, I get to call people “Nigger” unless they personally tell me they object”.
You don’t take a vote, you don’t try to get a consensus.
Once I was told "Hey- dont use “tranny!” I stopped.* Not just to that person. All the time. *
Many people wont tell you when you use a pejorative.
I linked you to a article where Brynn Tannehill said it’s a pejorative and should not be commonly used. and: " The conclusion of many organizations is that you should not use either “cisgender” or “cis” in any sort of public narrative.
Even inside the LGBT community the words have a very negative connotation"
So, it’s not* just me*. Of course you might not know who Brynn Tannehill is…
You don’t appear to have read my post, since I explicitly said I don’t use words in which the community it represents clearly signal that is a slur. I don’t believe cis is anywhere close to this, in terms of the community the word represents. If a single person tells me not to use the word human, that’s not enough to get me to stop using the word human. So what part of what I posted do you disagree with, specifically?
iiandyiiii, DrDeth and others: while I realize that an aspect of the discussion you’re having can be applied to the question posed in the OP, it really has strayed away from the point of the OP, in my view. If you wish to continue the discussion of gender identity and the like, please start another thread.
