It’s nice to think so. About the best we can hope for is Republican contenders ripping each other to shreds to prove who’s the biggest Trump sycophant.
The Kentucky House minority leader, Pamela Stevenson is a contender on the Democratic side. If by a miracle she was elected, she’d become Kentucky’s first black U.S. Senator. But that distinction is far more likely to go to Republican Daniel Cameron, former state attorney general.

I don’t think any of this counts for much. I remember in 2017 how the democrats were mopping the floor with republicans in special elections, but in 2018 the democratic midterms weren’t as impressive as people were hoping.
Hopefully in the special elections to replace house members, democrats overperform and shrink the GOP margin or possibly win the house. That would be nice.

Especially since some of these open seats are for people Trump brought into the White House.

It looks like Trump now takes it seriously enough to have Elise Stefanik stay in her House seat rather than appointing her to be U.N. ambassador.

As of today, there are going to be 4 bye (special) elections for House seats, but two of them are to replace Democratic Congressmen who died. The other two are in Florida on April 1st: FL-01 to replace Matt Gaetz and FL-06 to replace Michael Waltz (yeah, the SignalGate guy). The two D seats are in Arizona (election on Sept 23) and in Texas. Texas Gov Greg Abbott has not set a date for the last one and probably won’t until he absolutely has to.
There was going to be one to fill Stefanik’s seat, but it looks like that’s been called off. So except for the remote possibility of flipping FL-06, there’s not going to be any chance of the D’s increasing their representation in the House. In fact they’re going to be down two members for quite a while.

Kansas has elected (if I’m counting right) five Democratic governors in the forty years I’ve been living here (including _three_ women) but it’s been well over a hundred years since they elected a Democrat to the Senate. I wouldn’t hold my breath on Kentucky if I was you.
