I was thinking mainly of the Nazis, who were extremists, and who never formed more than a plurality of the German electorate or parliament, and who came to power, in a democratic setting, by being a whole lot more determined than the moderates. Some conservatives might apply the same analysis to Hugo Chavez’ party in Venezuela.
