Democrats say: we luvs ya, Heath Mello . . . for now

I thought Jesus was effectively giving the Romans a reason to arrest him.

If a black man wants to commit suicide by cop, all he really needs is a nerf water pistol. Similarly, Jesus only needed two swords to justify people who were going to treat him like a criminal anyway into treating him like a criminal.

Jesus needed to be arrested and crucified to fulfill prophecy.

The Good Samaritan spent two denarii, which was about two days wages. We are a good bit beyond that too - like $980 billion beyond, not counting state and local.

None of the crimes he was charged with had anything to do with violence, nor was he arrested by the Romans. Being numbered with the transgressors (the verse just before it) was going to happen anyway, given His propensity for hanging out with the poor, the outcasts, and the criminals. There might have been other prophesy regarding cutting the ear off the high priest’s servant. He was arrested by the priests, elders, and temple guard. The Romans came later, because only the Roman governor could sentence someone to death.

‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

He spent two denarii to start, and promised to cover whatever else was needed. The Samaritan was also a Gentile. Guess we should really make Mexico pay for it.

No, the Romans.

Samaritans weren’t Romans. They were neighbors.

I meant the Romans because they were the government, since we were talking about government funding for health care. Sorry - I was posting from my phone and I was too cryptic.

Also a nitpick - the Samaritans were more an offshoot of Jews than Gentiles. The regular Jews regarded them as outcasts and heretics, which is probably why Jesus used one in the parable. The nice, respectable priest and Levite didn’t do anything for the traveler but the icky Samaritan did. And out of his own resources, which is my point, and the reason I mentioned the Romans.

Sorry again for not being clear.

If this is intended as a response to my post #57, it strikes me as somewhat of a non sequitur.

Ah, I thought you were making a crack that WE should charge an extinct empire for healthcare.
