Oh yeah, almost forgot… the Bush administration, with all the cronies and Neocons and all that, they really were pretty damn terrible. Thank the Og they are gone (for now).

> Policy-wise, the only groups that have been the most sincerely consistent are true conservatives and libertarians. They bitched when Bush passed stupid spending measures just as much as Obama passing them.

Do you have any examples of this for, say, the Medicare prescription drug benefit. It seems to me that conservatives maintain their consistency by re-writing the past. It’s easy to say now that Bush wasn’t “one of us”, but somebody nominated and voted for him. Twice.

On one thing they have been consistent, tax cuts. They’re the cure for everything from recession to gout.

Tax cuts for the rich cronies and austerity for the rest of the people.

> Halperin claims "the stakes are getting very high for the country and the campaigns ". This means that the election is approaching. Hence the reference to campaigns. He also claims ABC is “one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the candidates are saying to serve the public interest.” This means they should attempt to convince voters not to vote for Bush, because re-electing Bush is not in the public interest.

That you can invent an imaginary scenario in which you ascribe meaning to statements that are not supported by the text is not the same as actually supporting your claims.

The Mod note was for your persistent refusal to actually address the issue and then implyuing that others were lying that you had so refused rather than for your flights of fancy in ascribing meanings that don’t exist.

> I note for the record that septimus’ ridiculous claim that Rove was behind the forgeries passes unchallenged by the moderators.

Septimus made a claim that he supported with observations of similar actions by the same person. No one has actually challenged him on the point, yet, so he has hardly posted repeated refusals to address the issue.

> [@Shodan](#):

> So, to sum up, yes, there is such a memo, from Halperin, . . .

That says nothing like what you claimed for it.
But, again, the Mod note was for refusing to support your own claim while implying that your opponents were lying, not for simply making one more tedious and unsupported partisan claim.

Septimus made a claim, but his observations do not support it, not by a long shot. As for him not being challenged, what am I, chopped liver? 🙂

I’d have thought braunschweiger.

If septimus comes back and posts several non-answers to your repeated objections and then says that his non-answers are sufficient and that you are dishonestly ignoring those answers, he will also be admonished to stop that behavior.

As would be expected. Why exactly are you telling me this?

Never been a fan of smoked sausage, by the way.

Braunschweiger is sausage? I thought it was the stuff left over after they made sausage. Mystery meat paste, more or less. German, of course.

> As well as the racism, there’s also the record breaking number of death threats against Obama. The Right was also fond of death threats against Clinton; I recall a “Where’s Lee Harvey Oswald When We Need Him?” bumper sticker from the Clinton era. And some Congressman who commented that Clinton would be killed if he came to the Congressman’s home state.

I see numbers like that, and my first thought is “What was wrong with the survey”

Frankly, if the survery was “properly done”, with a truely representative sampling and correct sample size without bias, there is no way in hell it is ever going to return such numbers.

I mean … puhleeze - fully 15% of the country not only believes in a literal antichrist, but also that Obama might be him?

25% of a supposedly educated population believes that Obama is “not eligible to be president”?

There MUST be something wrong with the survey - if America is truely that stoopid then Jesus wept - very very soon there is a disaster coming.
