Sure he could, but then it would be all over the news, and a substantial number of the credulous would then think it was true. You know how this shit works - the allegation can be much more effective than the truth. ---

I’m guessing that whoever runs against Hater, uh, Hastert, next time up is going to be incredibly well funded. And I hope that Soros sues him into poverty just for the sport of it, regardless of whether it’s profitable. It’s not like the guy needs the money. ---

Fuck, we’re losing this media war. Soros needs to take that asshole hastert to task on this one. What the fuck is up with the stupid dems? I’m half tempted to call them up and say “move over, you guys don’t know what you’re doing”. ---

And when I encounter such as this, I realize what a load of crap is Hastert’s, “Big Denny, Simple Man of The People” schtick. I hope like hell that Soros supports generously the next person to run against Hastert and makes the bastard weep bitter tears before all is said and done. And I hear that **Hastert** is the one who is fond of children. And, interestingly enough, tractors. ---

Soros made his money through currency speculation. A damned difficult way to earn a little lucre, by anyone’s measure. And I see that I fucked up and mis-read **Equipoise** ’s post. All apologies. But I stand by my assertion that Hastert has a thing for tractors. ---

[According to Josh Marshall](http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_08_29.php#003387), Hastert is aggressively repeating his charges against Soros. Soros has responded with a fine [put-up-or-shut-up letter](http://talkingpointsmemo.com/docs/soros.hastert.pdf). It’s in PDF, so I can’t C&P any quotes, but it illuminates the difference between our side and theirs. They’re a bunch of sick liars, who can win only by smear and obfuscation.
