Dennis Miller is going to be local. I’ve invited a friend and she is interested as long as he does not use a lot of foul language. I honestly don’t know, to be honest, although I know who he is, I haven’t really followed his career. I just thought it woudl be something different to do. So, a lot of bad language? ---

I used to watch a lot of Dennis Miller,and followed his brief conservative show on HBO. He rarely uses foul languange. If you have any difficulty at all it’ll be following his thesaurus like command of the English language. He’s sort of an anti George Carlin. ---

Profanity at a Dennis Miller show? Why, I haven’t heard that much profanity since the Carthaginians told the Romans “No salt on my popcorn, asshole, my doctor says I’m hypertensive.” ---

Yeah. He’s not averse to foul language if it fits the comedy, but he’s not one of those comedians who peppers his schtick with profanity. His whole thing is to be erudite and use obscure references and thick dialog as the timing and delivery vehicle for his jokes. He was on the Daily Show last week (and he killed, btw). He made some joke about people drinking Dunkin’ donuts liquid donuts as being too lazy to stretch their temporo-mandibular joint. John Stewart says, “You could just say, ‘jaw’, you know”. To which Miller replied, “Sure I could. And then I’m not working.” Or something like that. ---

I’d say there’ll be a few four letter words for emphasis but not much in the way of vulgarity. Usually when people say the dislike “foul language” they are usually referring to explicit descriptions of sex and such. An occasional f-bomb for emphasis probably won’t put them off too much. ---

Huh. I couldn’t disagree with everyone more. I remember cringing through his last HBO series under a barrage of pointless f-bombs - and I’m not adverse to slinging them myself. It just seemed to me that he sprinkled them pretty liberally throughout his rants. YMMV, obviously… ---

I suspect you’ll hear more profanity from his audiences than from him. At least, perhaps from those people who remember when he was actually funny. ---

The only comment I’ll make is that thety’d have to pay **me** – a bundle too – to sit through a Miller “comedy routine.” Give me root canal anyday… ---

Yes, Miller’s act uses salty language, but he’s not the worst, I guess. The real problem is that he hasn’t said one funny thing since about 1991. To me it’s sad that this isn’t the issue that **Khadaji** ’s friend is really concerned about. ---

Actually, please give me the root canal anyway–I need one and can’t afford it. Heh. But seriously, Dennis Miller is the comedic equivelent of receiving a lemon juice enima. I don’t know what other people have been watching but whenever I’ve seen Miller on HBO his act has been pretty liberally sprinkled with F-bombs and other profanities.
