Of course every case is different but invisalign is usually more like a year. However as I said, if the teeth don’t need contouring the DDS could give you all the aligners at once. Usually recontouring is done more at the begining.
Hi thanks for the reply. But with invisalign if it takes 1 year, i will have to visit the dentist every week or 2 weeks right? When you say they give you the aligners at once, im not sure what that means as im not familar with those words but it still require me to see the dentist? The dentist that i spoke to said i for braces/invisilign you have to see them once every 2 weeks i believe.
aligners are the mouthpieces that move the teeth. All the aligners are made at the beginning of treatment. Generally they are worn for two weeks before the next one is worn. Usually the dentist gives them one to three at a time to the patient, thereby seeing the dentist every two to six weeks.
For some tooth movement the teeth are shaved a bit on each side so they will pass each other. Most of this usually occurs near the beginning of treatment(but not always). Once ant tooth adjustments are made the dentist could give you all the aligners and not see you again. Generally they won’t do this but they could. Not everything always goes perfect so that is why the dentist wants to keep seeing you, in case minor adjustments need to be made.
Hey thanks for that information. So basically if it takes a year on average, then seeing them every 3 weeks through the year would make sense since u mention 2-6 weeks.
Do you know if there are people that only need to do invisilign for lesser time? Thus have you had patients or know people that only needed invisilign for 6 months and thats all? I assume 6 months is probably the absolute minimum amount of time right? Another thing but if someone has gingivitus and the dentist recommend them to remove 2 wisdom teeth, would you say this person is more likely a candidate for braces then invisilign? The dentist who i saw earlier who cleaned my teeth had to give me some antibiotics to take for a short time because there was infection in my teeth. I believe he said gingivitus. He also said he recommend me to have 2 wisdom teeth removed… these are on my right side of my mouth. I know that its almost never ever a good idea to have teeth removed but based on what this denetist said to me, would you say its best to have it removed? He said it wouldn’t be him removing it but another dentist he recommends and gave me that person card.
What i would prefer to do is not have the wisdom tooth removed and just have invisilign fix the crookiness on my teeth. But would you say some patients they wont do invisilign and say only option to braces? Another thing i want to ask is when i got my teeth cleaned, i havent gotten it cleaned in over 3.5 years at least before this. I know u suppose to clean it yearly or 6 months but back then i didnt b/c i didnt had any cavities… all i had was crookiness on my few teeth but it was never that bad where i was bothered by it so u get the picture. But how often can one have their teeth cleaned? I assume it has to be minimum 6 months apart? But what if more gingivitus or infection develop since the recently teeth being cleaned?
Also i would want to whiten my teeth as well. My teeth is yellowish but not that that yellowish. I also have plague-blackish marks on my teeth as well. So if i wanted to do invisilign as the most important thing, which should i do first? I already had my teeth cleaned few months ago but im feeling a bit of pain in my teeth as well. Should i have it cleaned again even though i had it cleaned close to 4 month ago? If i want whitening, should i whiten it first before the invisilign? Or should it be the other way around? Is there a period where if you cleaned your teeth, u can’t do teeth whitening for a period of time? I assume no? But what about whitening then invisilign? I assume if u do whitening, u have to wait 1 week or so until invisilign? What about removing the wisdom teeth? I read that is very painful so if that was done first, then i have to wait probably 1 month at least before whitening or invisilign? The other thing is i do have pain in my teeth again so with that infection, is there anything the dentist would do to my teeth first? FEw months ago he gave me antibiotics to take for few days with the infection but i think it came back again.
Thanks.
Pain isn’t usually a sign of needing a cleaning so you should get that checked. That is the first place to start.
Invisalign trays make good bleaching trays. Get some 15% carbamide peroxide from the dentist and place it in the tray to bleach. They’ll give you details. Length of treatment time for invisalign is different is every situation. I’ve known of as little as 12 weeks for a minor tweeking. Longer of course in bigger cases. A year is about average.
Wisdom teeth may or may not be painful. Varies greatly depending on the patient and the dental situation. If you need them out that should come before invisalign.
Thanks for that information. But do you think a dentist would be able to let me do invisilign if i dont want to remove my 2 wisdom teeth? I read pulling it out is very very painful.
Another question but when is the earliest time you could do another teeth cleaning? I read this should be done once 1 year or 6 months. Is there ever a time where you could clean it again after less than 6 months?
Also when i went to dentist, i got teeth cleaned. But if i wanted whitening done… can you do that in the same time you do cleaning? OR you have to do cleaning done… then wait a cerrtain time such as 2 weeks or 1 month… then u could do whitening?
How many whitening procedures would it take to clean the teeth where there is noticeable improvement? My teeth are yellowsih and also blackish in certain teeth… thats called plague right?
I use to use those crest teeth whitening strips many years ago but i wasn’t very serious about it. I would do it once a night, then stop then do it again few nights later etc. Would you say those are a waste of time?
Depends on the wisdom teeth. Are they erupted and in contact or occlusion with the other teeth? Short answer is it depends. If they need to come out then get them removed. Waiting can cause more problems down the road. So if I tell you that it isn’t usually a big deal(all results vary) for most people to have there wisdom teeth removed and you read it here will you believe that or just the other stuff you read?
You could have your teeth cleaned the next day. Wouldn’t take much to do since there wouldn’t be much build up to remove. There is no time limit on cleanings. Really depends on need. The twice a year thing comes from insurance payments and from an old (30’s I think) toothpaste ad saying to see your dentist twice a year. Insurance usually pays for two cleanings a year so that is what most people think is the correct timeframe. Some people need several year and others once in several years. Depends on tarter build up. Every six months is plenty for most folks.
Whitening and cleaning are two different things and don’t depend on each other. It is better to bleach(whiten) teeth without tarter build up since it covers portions of the teeth. No waiting required after cleaning to whiten.
Amount of time to whiten also varies. Depends on teeth. Those that have just yellowed a bit due to age are much easier to whiten then those with intrinsic staining such as from tetracycline. as a general rule discolorations other than yellow, such as"blackish" take longer to whiten. Do it as much as needed to get the results desired. Some people do get temporary sensitivity which dictates how often they can bleach.
I have no problems white the OTC strips. They work for many people but not everyone. Sometimes you have to use them much longer to get the same results. They also let you know about possible sensitivity prior to spending a lot of money at the dentist.
Dentist didnt tell me. He just said the 2 wisdom teeth in the bottom right of my mouth are the two teeth. He said i should get it removed.
Another question. If i can’t do invisilign and don’t want to do braces due to it looking bad… is there some other option that is very similar to invisiglin? The thing is the look of it is very important to me.
I actually stopped those otc strips a while back b/c i read they aren’t good for you.
