I saw “They run like spokes out from a point. Some French guy thought of that” and thought of Pierre L’Enfant, then DC. You probably don’t want to hear this, but then I thought, “And that last part must refer to the Commanders, since the Lions just beat them.” I caught my error, but I had been ninjaed since. ---

In the past, Cree and French met here and gave rise to a new, mixed folk. They set up farms, plied the fur trade, and ruled their own land. But then, whites from the east came, built a fort, and made plans to force the mixed folk off their lands. So the mixed folk took the whites’ fort, threw its boss in jail, and killed a man who had backed him. The whites heard of this and so sent troops to take back the fort, which they did, and the chief of the mixed folk had to flee south. The whites said that the mixed folk could keep their land to hunt and farm, but it was all a lie. Most of them grew poor and had to leave for the west, where some fought a small war against the whites and lost. ---
