> Huh? How can you eat a hot dog **without** ketchup?

Nah, I’m not even gonna go there, lest the Great Condiment Debate begins anew. Suffice to say there are many people (and not _just_ Chicagoans) that believe ketchup shouldn’t even cast its shadow on a hot dog. One famous local joint doesn’t even have ketchup on its premises, so if you want it for your fries, you need to go across the street to the McDonald’s.

(Well, I guess I sorta went there, but I’m not trying to stir up discussion on this. Plenty of threads around here where we’ve gone over this.)

Oh, I just thought of another one, since drinks are included. One drunken night during new student week in college, we were left with a bottle of gin. Now, I don’t like gin straight, or at least not then. I can tolerate it now. So I looked around for the mixers. The only option was cream soda. Let me just say that juniper berries and cream soda don’t work together on any level. Not as a complement, not as contrast. That was one nasty cocktail.

I haven’t tried it yet, but a vendor at a local farm market recently swore by horseradish mixed with peanut butter.

An experiment gone bad. Was camping once and realized I had no sugar. Back then I HAD to have sugar in my coffee. I did have some Sprite (or was it 7 UP?). I figured, hey its mostly sugar water with carbonation and some kinda lemony zest stuff (and I like lemon in my tea).

Made the coffee with the soda. Not only not good, actually way worse than I thought it could possibly be.

Y’know, that sounds gross as all get out, but the more I think about I begin to think it might not be awful. I hope I remember to put horseradish on my grocery list, cuz I think I’d like to give it a try.

How is that significantly different from buttered toast?

Toast is warm?

Toast isn’t all salt.

My parents have buttered saltines as an accompaniment with chili, or most any soup that’s hardy enough to serve as a dinner. Maybe a Wisconsin thing? I’ve just always eaten the saltines dry.

Me too. Really surprised me. Didn’t work AT ALL.

Ditto the cheese on apple pie thing. Love em both seperately. Butter on saltines is yummy.

Butter on saltines is one of my lunchtime favorites (when I’m kinda broke.) I bring a sleeve of saltines and a stick of butter to work and can graze all day! (When I’m at the office, I tend to graze versus take an actual lunchbreak.)

Husband loves ketchup on everything - I can barely stand the smell of it. But he goes so far as to put it on EGGS!!!

I love pizza, and I love chocolate, but I don’t like the two together.

(I haven’t ever eaten them at exactly the same time, but I’ve eaten chocolate shortly after having pizza, and the aftertaste of the pizza interferes with my enjoyment of the chocolate. Same with bacon aftertaste and chocolate - I’ve never understood people who like chocolate-covered bacon. 😛 )

Blue cheese stuffed olives are marvelous, provided you include one KEY ingredient…
the dirty martini. 🙂

The runny yolk should act as a dipping sauce for the beef. I happen to like runny yolks so it is my favorite part of eating sukiyaki.

Like all kinds of eggs? Or just scrambled? 'Cause I love ketchup on scrambled eggs, and so do most of my family members and friends.

Is it a Pennsylvania thing?

While in Israel, I had Shakshouka for breakfast.

_puke_

It was basically poached, runny eggs sitting in really spicy tomato sauce.

It was absolutely vile. The texture was the biggest issue: the soft egg snot did not mix well with the sauce. Completely disgusting.

I was scrambling my brain for what it was that really f’s with my palate in mornings that goes with orange juice. Then I remembered it was toothpaste, so not really in the spirit of the OP.

However, a quick google search reveals that OJ and Oatmeal is both good:

A what now? The only wagon wheel I know is from that old “Hankerin’ for a hunka cheese” commercial on Saturday morning cartoons. And cheese on eggs is awesome, so you must mean something else.
