:: bump ::

Austin charges $15 an hour for making out? I wonder if he double-checked with Andrew to make sure that’s the going rate.

This was a “meh” episode for me. Everything that I normally accept and love about the show just seemed sooo old today: Gabby and Carlos using other people to damage each other, Lynette being kind of a bitch with Tom and him tucking his tail between his legs (I _hate_ what’s-her-name, but she was right about him needing to grow a pair), the Mike/Susan/Edie triangle (speaking of someone who needs to grow a pair), Julie acting like she doesn’t have the hots for Edie’s nephew, Bree’s kids being spoiled little assholes, etc. I will say that I didn’t expect the phone number to be Mike’s. It seemed like a typical epsiode, though, so the problem was probably just with me – I’m pretty tired today.

When Julie’s friend Sarah first appeared, for a moment I thought the actress playing her was Linda Blair. Then I realized that Linda Blair is middle-aged now. But gee, wouldn’t it be interesting to have a possessed teen on Wisteria Lane…

The word was that Season Three would bring back the fun. I didn’t have much fun watching this episode. The Gabi/Carlos cruelty just isn’t very amusing to me at this point, even with the added touches like the faux humping in the relocated bed.

Is there anyone in this show that I like anymore? I’m not sure. I’m going to hang on and keep watching, but I sure do miss the fun.

The dialog this season has been overall amazingly good, but the situations that inspire it are lame.

Mike/Susan/Edie: Finally someone calls Edie evil to her face, and Edie doesn’t particularly care, which is rather the hallmark of evil. Mike starts to recollect some dim memories, but will they be enough to overcome Edie’s mindfuck? And will we care?

Tom/Lynette/Nora: I’m all for supporting your spouse, but good Christ, a pizza parlor? Of course she should dump cold water all over that idea. They have a mortgage and four kids. They can’t possibly have the resources to throw away on a restaurant. And I wanted to smack Tom. “But it’s my dreeeeeam!” Then approach it realisticly if you expect it to succeed. Take some classes in how to run a small business. Write a business plan.

Nora. Feh. Don’t care about her machinations. I guess she figures an unemployed semi-loser without a prison record is a step up.

Bree/Orson/Andrew/Danielle: Could it be that for once the behind the scenes manipulation will work? And what’s up with Orson’s freaking out about suicide? Could his wife somehow have been a suicide, which he concealed, rather than a murder? And what’s the connection between him and Golf Course Dead Lady and Mike?

Julie/Austin: Julie has apparently learned nothing from her mother’s idiotic dealings with men. I do like that she smartened up enough by the end to email the wrong paper after figuring out that she’d been conned but I mean really. And, Austin’s in school? Didn’t he just show up in town like ten minutes ago?

Gaby/Carlos: Don’t care.

Where did this body on the golf course come from? Was that from this season, or last? And Austin is just so not hot. Kinda of icky looking, actually…really bad hair.

This season. The cops found the body when it washed out of some clay. They thought it was Orson’s missing wife but it wasn’t. But Orson knew her, since at the morgue he spouted off something in French to the corpse and called her IIRC “Marguerite.”

Yeah, I think that’s about it. I couldn’t put my finger quite on it, but that’s just what’s going on. I find myself laughing quite a bit, but still not really liking it much. I loved the “old goat” comment at dinner, for example, but the whole situation is kinda sutpid. If it wasn’t too lazy to drop this show from my DVR’s series recording list, I’d probably just stop watching it…

So they’re starting to tie Orson to Mike… maybe Orson’s wife killed herself, and somehow Mike was setup to take the blame, so Orson ran him over as revenge (all puppeteered by Zack with his newfound wealth, to get back at Mike).

Yes, who also played Ann Veal on AD.

For a moment, I thought Bree and Orson were going to keep eating their genteel dinner after hearing about Danielle’s suicide attempt. I was actually disappointed when they panicked and ran upstairs.

So Orson’s wife killed herself after Mike made a mistake with their plumbing? The horror of a backed-up shower drain put her over the edge?

Best bits: Orson’s outburst in the hospital, Andrew’s sarcasm towards Danielle, Susan’s dorky dance, Edie’s attitude, Gabi’s fakery.

I agree about Tom Scavo and his dream. People with that sort of fantasy never want to do the dirty work to get to the result. They just want it right away. The man has no experience in the restaurant field, yet he wants to open up that pizza parlor in five minutes. Just dumb.

Yeah, the dream is nice and all, and great, work towards it. But spending their life savings? Uh-uh. Lynette’s idea was a nice compromise.
