I didn’t get to watch the game last night, but on the radio this morning they said that Destiny’s Child was “booed off the stage at halftime.” They mentioned that they were crying as they walked off. Is this true? Gotta love those Philly fans if it is. Throw snowballs, boo Santa… ---

Yup, I noticed this. You couldn’t hear booing during the performance, but that might just have been because the balance was set to only pick up the singing. At the end of the performance however they were seriously booed off, loudly and obviously on national TV. I found it kinda entertaining when you consider how goddamn ridiculous it is to have this crap at halftime of the finals, but Philly fans will never make a reputation for being good ones. And did you hear that the Backstreet Boys had to cancel a bunch of concerts due to lack of interest? Maybe we’re seeing a trend here… ---

I’m sorry, but that’s rude beyond belief. Those girls were asked to be there, paid to be there, and it’s not their fault if nobody wanted to listen to them. Darn it, a few minutes of your time wasted by music you don’t want to listen to is not an excuse to forget any manners or consideration you _might_ have had. (I say might because some people give the impression that they never had them at all.) ---

We were talking about this at work today. The fans were justified. Imagine if they were singing at halftime of an Eagles/Cowboys game at the Vet, wearing blue and silver. They wouldn’t get out of the city alive. Beat LA! ---

Yeah that changes everything, them wearing those colors. When I first heard it I felt sorry for them but now that I know that they wore Laker’s stuff there I think the croud was justified. And there are a lot of fun analogies to play with this one. 1. Go to your first day of work at the Mac plant wearing an IBM shirt. 2. Being John Rocker and going to a Mets or Yankee home game. 3. Go to a Red Sox home game in full Yankee regalia. And then should they win taunt the fans. (I had a friend who did this in Toronto, luckily they were nice enough not to beat the crap out of him. 4. Walk around Tehran with a shirt on which has a picture of Mohammed on it. umm, let me stop myself before I get out of hand. These are getting too stupid for any sane person too try. But I give those girls a 5 on the stupidity scale. ---

OK… I’ll admit that I am still bitter about Philly beating my Bucks but an event like this makes me feel better. I’m proud of you on this one Philly!! Those girls had it coming if they are stupid enough to pull a stunt like that anywhere. …much less in Philly. Of course based on the interviews with Destiny’s Child I have seen… they are pretty lucky they can sing. ---

“Destiny’s Child” are not “girls” and should have known better. Did no one advise them against their Laker items? If a Brownie Troop from LA had come by to sing “Kumbaya” and been boo’ed, that would be rude - but this? ---

And they were definitely booed for being stupid enough to wear Lakers colors. By the middle of the second song, however, they were being booed for simply sucking, big time. I think they are the “halftime entertainment” for tonight’s game as well–wonder if they’ll show, and, if so, what they’ll be wearing… ---

I feel sorry for the girls, and if I were them I’d be furious with the NBA/NBC marketing “geniuses” in charge of halftime entertainment. Destiny’s Child are pop stars, not hardcore sports fans, and they probably didn’t know any better, but you’d think the people actually running the show would know better than to send the girls on stage in Philadelphia clad in Laker wear. ---

That was dumb of them. I still wouldn’t have boo’ed, though, 'cause I still think there’s enough negativity and ugliness in the world without my adding to it. ---

A) That particular group actually has musical talent. B)I’m biased, but also musically educated, so I hope it balances. (I’m biased because I can tell the difference.) C) I would have no clue what would be wrong about wearing Lakers stuff to Philly. Personally, I don’t follow sports. If I thought about it, I might try to scrounge up some home team stuff as a gesture. If I didn’t happen to think about it, I’d wear whatever made me happy. Hopefully a staff would be able to catch any problems like this. D) Its still really, really wrong to boo people. Can you sing that well? Were you up on stage? Are you living off your performances? Then keep your loud, rude, beer fueled crap to yourself. ---
