I like the way the writers have been toying with the audience for the last couple episodes. Doakes was literally screaming through the fourth wall, kill me now or set me free. The alligator was the most convenient little wink at the audience that we knew wouldn’t happen. The whole turning himself in thing, it’s just putting on screen what’s been running through our heads for the past few weeks. Now that they’ve explored all the options, we get to see what actually happens. I can see it happening, but I’ll be a little disappointed if they pin it on Doakes because the new boss is in town and he thinks a charred body ties everything up. Lila burns down the cabin with Doakes, Lundy and LaGuerta know that Doakes is innocent, Dexter keeps killing without any suspicion, and Lila “disappears” from Miami forever. ---

[/QUOTE] Maybe that’s how NEXT season ends. I’m thinking this season will end with a huge cliffhanger, incidently pissing us all off. Maybe almoast everybody will go missing – Doakes, Lila, the kids, Deb… Deb has certainly made herself into a target for Lila, and one she has to deal with sooner rather than later. ---

I picture Lila killing Doakes because she thinks it will bind Dexter to her. Then, he will HAVE to kill her, esp. if she does something to Rita and/or the kids. But it seems that having Lila get rid of Doakes is the only way that situation can be resolved for Dex in a way that does not incriminate him or cause him to violate his code. I liked Deb for the first time ever in this ep, that was a major bonus. BTW, I agree with many, if not all, of AuntiePam’s issues with the last ep. ---
