During the kitchen scene, when the girl was tied up, even though Olmos was talking, she only looked at the other guy. I’m leaning towards hallucination/split personality also. ---

Interesting season so far - and they weren’t kidding when they said Dexter is getting religion; it is being thrown at him from all sides this season. So what is the “real” story about the new blonde assistant who was trying to sell things online? Is there an ulterior motive or really just a need for cash? Also, the new detective seems to be standing in front of everyone a lot - who made him the new king? He is muscling in there at a pretty quick pace. ---

I’m pretty knew to Dexter, but this last episode was an awful lot like any CSI, with a little torture porn thrown in (although those two aren’t mutually exclusive), and liberal use of the “f” word. It’s OK, but I’m not seeing myself get really jazzed about it. ---

Their stuff usually comes off like a mediocre CSI spin-off, except the cops in CSI are usually competent, while the Dexter version of the Miami PD, not so much. Seems like a lot of long-running dramas hit this problem. The writers feel they need to write sub-plots for all the supporting cast members every season, and so you end up with a bunch of mediocre sideshows the viewers don’t really care about. ---

You know, I was willing to give the Miami metro department the benefit of the doubt. It was easy to understand that, yes, of course they knew there was a Christian connection to the killings but that, in and of itself, wouldn’t lead to anything. But this episode established that it was 5 days between the snake killings and the 4 horsemen and it wasn’t until the second death and the new detective made the comment about the apocolypse that ANYONE on the staff made any connection to theology. Seriously? The guy had Alpha and Omega carved into his chest and you’re completely at a loss for 5 days as to what that means? They couldn’t have picked up those persons of interest sooner? Not even a “let’s go check out the local fraternities” goose chase? That’s just sloppy writing translating into an incompetent police force. ---

Using the f word doesn’t bother me at all, so that makes a difference, but Debs creative use of language is one of my absolute favorite parts of the show. 🙂 ---

When did Deb find out that the Ice Truck Killer was Dexter’s brother? I thought Dexter destroyed all evidence that would link the two. Did that come up again in a different season? Cause at the beginning of this episode she asked him if the body parts reminded him of his brother. ---

Yea, during the season with the Trinity Killer, one of her father’s friends who knew Dexter’s mother tells Deb the mother’s last name. Dexter pretends he didn’t know about the connection. ---

That is an excellent question, and AFAIK your recollection is correct. Nor do I remember any subsequent season (and I’ve seen them all) bringing this information back in. Unfortunately, my local station doesn’t have the latest episode On Demnand yet, so I can’t review the comment for exactly what she said – but I do remember a comment like that. ---

Oops, I was wrong. Deb says." … your brother, Rudy, the Ice Truck killer?" Also very strange that Dexter (in a little mental monologue) refers to his as Brian, which IIRC is his real name, but Deb calls him by his alias – Rudy. So if Deb knows they were brothers, why doesn’t she know his real name?
