# Dharma Initiative Logo

Where did the writers/producers get the logo? I googled this, and read the Wikipedia thing on it, and didn’t get an answer (doesn’t mean it’s not there, I just couldn’t find it within the time I spent reading and googling and knew that dopers would have a better answer anyway).

I was watching an old cult classic (probably my all time favorite) and in it was a logo to an evil Think Tank organization which looked remarkably similar to the Dharma Initiative logo. (I’ll share the name of the movie after a few answers 🙂 I don’t want to unduly influence people’s thoughts on this).

I found [an answer](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba_gua).

I always thought the symbols around the outside of the octagon were based on _I Ching_.

Ah bummer. I had hoped it was inspired by the Evil Think Tank logo in “Night of the Comet” which it somewhat resembles. Thanks for your much better than mine google fu though!
