[Diablo 3 will be available for all this weekend](http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/4963739/Diablo%C2%AE_III_Open_Beta_Weekend-4_19_2012) in an open beta stress test. So if you wanted to preview the game to decide whether or not to get it, you can try it starting in about a half hour, going through until Monday morning. We’ll get some straight dope co-op games going I’m sure - if you want to get into my games, the best way to contact me is through steam (same name). I’m sure we’ll be playing a decent bit over the weekend. ---

Half an hour from the timestamp of your post would have been 00:00 PDT - so there’s another 8 and a bit hours until the beta opens from now. I’ve just downloaded the client, and it’s saying I don’t have a valid Diablo III account, so it looks like I won’t be playing until tomorrow morning my time. ---

I was in the private beta, and I don’t believe there was any co-op (unless I completley missed it!). Is this open beta different? ---

My bad, didn’t read the timestamp correctly, and it’s not uncommon for stuff to start at midnight. You need to have a [battle.net](http://battle.net) account, but they’re free to create. The description says you can “team up with friends” so I assume there’s coop. ---

Downloading now…I only played Diablo II a bit, never beat it, and never did any multiplayer, but what the Hell, I’ll try this out… ---

When they say valid Bnet account, do they mean an account with WoW or something more recent than D2? I haven’t logged into D2 for years, and I’ve never had a WoW or SC account. I guess I could try installing D2 to create a new up-to-date account (in case my old account was just deleted for inactivity), but I’d rather not go through that if it’s not gonna work. So by “valid Bnet account” do they mean a newer Bnet account, or would an old-school account work? ---

When they relaunched [Battle.net](http://Battle.net) a few years ago, all of their games (including WoW) had to be under a [battle.net](http://battle.net) account. I doubt the D2 account would work. Just follow the link on the page linked in the OP to create one. ---

I want to hate this game. I mean I really really want to hate it. 12% downloaded and I can already feel the quivery sickly feeling of the withdrawal that will have to come if this turns out to be a life-consuming game. ---

Try later. Reports are that 1.5m people logged in simultaneously and things are pretty hammered, may not be up for a while. They should’ve released it in a staggered way or at least not told everyone the exact minute it started, so that the load would be spread out a bit.
