My question concerns IE5.5 and the dial-up settings in the _connections_ tab in the tools/internet options. I have to constantly re-check the option that says “always dial my default connection.” Whenever I reboot and at other times also, it reverts to the “never dial a connection” option. It is, in the grand scheme of things, a very minor annoyance, but there must be a reason for it happening. How come it won’t “remember” my setting? Nothing else changes. If it makes any difference, I am using Windows ME.

[sub]If the answer is extremely obvious, be note my sig. :D[/sub]

Oh and I always use the “apply” button first and then the “O.K.” button. I have no idea if that really makes any difference or not, but, well, you know how Windows is. 😃

I’ve gotten around this by setting up the OS to ask me for a password when I first turn the machine on. That way I am logged in as a user, not as a generic “default”. From there on, all my personal passwords are saved in my numerous dialup applets. There might be another way to do this, but that is how I did it.
