Some - that **Phd** guy and **ThisYearsModel** , e.g. - show me the error of my ways. Others - **Sam Stone** and **Brutus** and **milroyj** - completely and utterly ignore my posts. Are my posts skipped over because they’re dumb or because no responses can be made against them? ---

Dick Cheney’s hat doesn’t bother me one way or another. In fact, it would never cross my mind to even consider it. The fact that there’s a 3-page pit thread on the subject frankly baffles me. ---

It’s just that since I travel so much, I have been batting .1000 for being out of the country (or in the wrong country) when someone kicked off. Luck can’t hold, I imagine, as our oldest generation is now hitting that age _en masse_. Of course I would wear a suit and tie. But come on, if the weather was pube-freezingly-cold, I think weather appropriate dress would be fine. ---

Nobody is saying that the man should have should have put his life at risk by wearing non weather appropriate dress. Look at the picture again. EVERYONE is wearing weather appropriate dress. I would have expected the VP of any nation yet alone the richest and most powerful in the world to be able to sort out some clothes that were more appropriate for that type of ceremony. He does look out of place and a bit of a gobshite in those pictures. Not a big deal at all but still a silly mistake. BTW just for the record Ireland set it’s president to ceremony who was very classily wrapped up in a big coat and hat.
