Did anyone watch Nova's Why The Towers Fell?

Engineer’s pet peeve/nitpick: The person responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of a building is not the architect, it’s the structural engineer.

I didn’t see Nova, but a few months ago I did see the TLC show that others have metioned in this thread. I droned on about it esoterically in one of my LiveJournal entries.

In the TLC show from a few months ago there was a particularly wrenching scene with the architect. As he’s describing some aspect of the buildings he says, “Well, the Twin Towers are the-” and then he corrects himself, “I mean the Twin Towers were, I still can’t get used to the idea that they’re gone…”

I think its a bit silly to point fingers at anyone but the terrorists. Crashing an airliner into it was something no one could have designed or planned for. And I don’t think it can (or should) be seriously considered in future building designs. Emphasis should be placed on preventing it from ever happening again (i.e. armed pilots, racial profiling etc.)
