Did Helen keller have Some Limited sight/Hearing?

<hijack, sort of>

That reminds me of a friend of mine whose deaf mother used to dance to the vibrations of her washing machine. I always thought that was pretty cool.

I had a friend w/ three deaf daughters. All were born w/ their deafness. The eldest was “profoundly” deaf (that’s the term the mother used and I’m certain that she learned the term from doctors). The other two had some rudimentary hearing, they wore these huge “hearing aides” when they were small, but apparently their hearing deteriorated as they got older. The eldest talked very little, more like noises to get your attention. The other two were fairly easily understood after I’d been around them for awhile. All three were fairly good dancers, but they told me it depended a lot on the construction of the building, especially the floor and the volume of the music. The girls taught me some very basic sign and had fun teaching me profanity which their mother would later catch and explain that I’d been had, while the girls giggled joyously. I learned a lot from knowing those girls. :cool:
