(Not my field but) As Hamster King is pointing out, the circadian cycle being longer than 24 hours doesn’t have to be ‘wrong’ and in fact may be ‘right’ and necessary.

## It may be necessary to have our body clocks ‘lagging’ behind the day schedule with us constantly being ‘pulled forwards’.

1.) “He is as honest as the day is long. Which means he’s least honest on December 21st.” - The Red Green Show.

2.) When people remark that December 21st is the shortest day of the year, I tell them that’s correct - its only 23 hours. In June the day is 25 hours long so it averages out to 24 over the year. You’d be surprised how many people stop to think about that.

> So perhaps i’ll need to start a whole new thread to get any serious answers here, but does anyone know why our body clocks don’t run on 24hr cycles?
>
> And does anyone else feel their body clock is like really far off 24hrs? I always feel like i prefer sleeping for about 10-12hrs then being awake for about 20 or so. Am i weird? If i ever have long periods of time without any regulating activity (like, you know, going to work) this is the cycle i seem to get into.

Studies I’ve read on the subject say 9 out of 10 people have a 25-hour internal clock and 1 person out of 10 has a 36-hour internal clock. You might be one of those people. As to why…

The simple answer is that there hasn’t been a compelling reason why people with 24 or 26 hour internal clocks would have better survival rates than those of us with 25. There might even be some advantage to having your body constantly wanting an extra hour of sleep. That would give you an incentive to get extra rest after having missed some sleep the previous night(s). In any case, the influence on survival rates is tiny. When you think about it, the time from one daylight to the next isn’t precisely 24 hours anyway, the days and nights get shorter and longer at different times of the year, and don’t forget the [equation of time](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equation_of_time). Anyone who had a perfect 24-hour internal clock and got discombobulated if dawn didn’t happen at exactly the same point in their cycle would soon end up tearing out their own hair.

Edit: Rats. I didn’t realize this was a zombie thread until after I had already posted.

More recent research indicates that the human circadian cycle is 24 hours and 11 minutes, not close to 25 hours. Also note that this it the cycle _in the absence of external stimuli_. Under normal circumstances your circadian “clock” is reset daily to conform to the actual day/night cycle where you are. Your body doesn’t need additional sleep because of circadian rhythms.

The post is bunk, but where does this assertion come from? A quick Google search didn’t turn up any interesting woo about unexplained hieroglyphs and a Sol based system or 11 planets, etc. Just wondering where this came from…

Widely excepted indeed. Anyone with any actual knowledge takes complete exception to the silly theory you’re propounding.

For what it’s worth, only 5 planets are visible to the naked eye, and the telescope was invented in the 17th century.

Uranus can be visible to the naked eye, but it moves so slowly that it was not recognised as a planet by the ancients.

@ **John Mace** :
Nope. Directly opposite that planet in the same orbit is a mystery planet: Hizzanus. It’s never visible from Uranus.

That’s where the most interesting theories come from.

> Did We evolve from Mars

> Since the early time of astrology humans wondered where we came from, who created our being. Since the population was so primitive in it’s thinking it makes sense that they created gods , deities, and religion to keep the masses in order to have fear and control of the population of each society. In ancient history,it shows primitive petroglyphs carved in rocks, stone walls and tablets depicting our solar system and not just 9 bodies in our solar system but 11 surround the star Sol .
> Before Greek mathematician, astronomer and geographer Eratosthenes (276 BCE- 195 BCE) The fore mentioned ancient civilization mentioned would be around the 4500 - 5000 AD. mark who had know knowledge of telescopes or away of calculating distance by way of artificial assistance, but some how knew of the fact there were 11 bodies circulating the star Sol.
> Who were the they inteligence to hand down first hand information to our ancestors, in theory it is now widely excepted that our closet neighboring planet Mars was in fact once long ago inhabited with intelligent life until the arrogance of that population, with technology and power to control the planets natural course of evolution caused their own termination. Much as our own world leaders are doing today with H.A.R.P !
> With having said that , the leading scientific life forms possibly knew the destruction was inedible, so seeding another “Goldilocks” Planet near by “Terra” the problem of total annihilation of existence and history of that culture would still endure.
> Picture if you will an “ARK” of that life form and possible the rest of that planets DNA samples being transported to "Terra"as seen in the Ridley Scott’s movie Prometheus (2012) written by John Spaihts were to be in fact a basis of truth, then this would answer the question as yes were not originally from “Terra”! We are all immigrants of a sort.
> In ancient cultures it’s record that they have been visited and helped by advanced life forms from the sky and to explain who they didn’t know, they referred to them as gods , the same way if we were to travel back in history to the Incas or Mayan cities.
> We would be in fact looked upon as Gods with the technology we know today with science and medicine. So not to knock religion but angels do not have wings it was early many who didn’t recognise a power field around the being that visited them and wonder how to depict this in art and literature.
> India was the oldest culture to record such events as wars in the sky of gods in ships but were drawn as recognisable figures to relate further on in future history . Our own history shows the advance leap in genetics when it came to modern mankind and his predecessor in the evolutionary change , eg. the missing link .
> This must be given thought to who had the advance knowledge in genetic DNA manipulation, and cross breeding what would later become modern man. Lets not forget the fact that Mars life forms would not be able to survive on this planet as the natural conditions were not the same , eg. gravity, weather climate and magnetic fields are mostly different from Mars or maybe another planet from our original origin.
> Life forms of all types would grow differently here on “Terra” as an eg. people here on this planet grow differently because of living conditions such as weather climate , altitude, and distance to fresh water sources. So if in fact we were seed along with other types of DNA from Mars we would not look exactly like our progenitors because of "Terra’s"influence on the DNA deposited here as well as duration of time that passed .
> In conclusion I hope this might clear up a few misconceptions in the question “Did Humans Evolve on Mars” !

Then what happened?
