# Did I have an allergic reaction?

While I was watching TV last night my lower lip and the left side of my face started to swell. My lower lip felt tingly. This was hours after eating. I took benedryl but it had no effect. This morning, the swelling has subsided a bit but it is still there. What could be the cause of this?

It might be that you have a bug bite. While I’m sure you would have noticed if some hairy critter was crawling all over your face, you never know.

This is the type of diagnosis-by-Internet question that is often frowned on by the mods. Even if we were all doctors (IANAD) we couldn’t answer your question without examining you. You might want to see a doc if it bothers you enough.

Yes, good point. I do have an appointment. I do not think that it is that serious but I could not for the life of me think what the problem could be. We’ll see what the doc says.
