…\<tangent\>When we watch a British Comedy such as _Keeping Up Appearances_ from the 1990s we see the late-middle-aged Richard wearing a tie in every scene; gardening, picknicking, you name it. Do English men in their 50s-60s still wear ties everytime they go outdoors?\</tangent\>
They do when Hyacinth Bucket picks out all their clothes for them. 😃

How did Lockheed manage to register the name “Skunk Works”, since it’s such a small variation on the term that inspired it, the Skonk Works from the comic strip _Pogo_?:

> **[Skunk Works](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skunk_works)**

> Skunk Works is an official pseudonym for Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Programs (ADP), formerly called Lockheed Advanced Development Projects. It is responsible for a number of aircraft designs, highly classified research and development programs, and exotic aircraft platforms. Known locations include United States Air Force Plant 42 (Palmdale, California) and United States Air Force Plant 4 (Fort Worth, Texas). Most notably, a majority of classified testing is thought\[by whom?\] to be ...

Excuse me, it’s not from _Pogo_. It’s from _Li’l Abner_. I should learn to read the pages I link to better.
Not so much. We also have a lot more skin cancer now. One of the preventions for skin cancer? _Put on a broad brimmed hat._

\*Q: Will a hat help protect my skin? Are there recommended styles for the best protection?

A: Hats can help shield your skin from the sun’s UV rays. Choose a hat that provides shade for all of your head and neck. For the most protection, wear a hat with a brim all the way around that shades your face, ears, and the back of your neck\*.
I find it impossible to drive or ride in a car while wearing any sort of hat other than a baseball cap. The brim in back hits the headrest. I think that this might be a small factor in the decline of wearing real hats.
Yesterday I was wearing a comfortable tailored suit (pale green linen tweed), with a cream-colored T-shirt and flats. A woman passing me on the street gave me the once-over and said, “_Nice_ suit!”

Made my day.
Do you even own a pair of jeans, **Eve**?

😃

**Lynn** , that’s true, but you can always remove the hat.

One thing I find amusing is that a woman wearing a skirt, no matter what kind of skirt it is, is automatically assumed to be “dressed up.” I once wore a casual black skirt with boots and a shirt to class and a classmate of mine said, “What are you all gussied up for?” (not in a nasty way, he meant it as a compliment).

It’s kind of funny.
