On another note from irk; we have some visiting bosses from Cleveland while their building gets repaired. I worked with one closer yesterday and today and he sorta is trying to recruit me. “Do you have family ties that keep you in Pittsburgh? Ever consider a transfer?” Real subtle stuff like that. I told him I would consider it but I would need an autographed Howard the Duck t-shirt as a signing bonus. The young man is from Syria and has only been in the United States for 9 years. He has no idea who Howard the Duck is but he is going to e-mail his building boss and see if he knows someone who knows Howard. :eek: :smack: ---

9:30 - the not-very-wide-line of T-boomers _still_ hadn’t moved out; I could hear thunder on a somewhat regular basis. I was getting antsy, too antsy. I wanted to kill someone; not J2, & not myself, who were the only two here. I changed & went out for my run…finally. At 200 yards in I could literally feel the tension pouring out of my body; it’s like it was liquid & someone opened the drains in my feet. At ¼ mile in I saw the first lightning strike. About the farthest point from home I felt the drops start, but it was only a few drops. Well, I’m up, cleaned and dressed and leaving for the airport to fly to Houston to pick up my Chinese Visa for my vacation. Be back by 7PM at the latest, so this is a fast visit, but I’ll try to see at least a little of the city while I’m there. All y’all play nice while I’m gone. ---

I know I mention my weird dreams far too often, but this one pegs the bizarro-meter. As background, engineering drawings are supposed to tell the folks who build stuff how to build the stuff, specifying not only things like dimensions and materials, but also notes calling out paint color or stress-relief or inspection requirements. Which makes it all the more bizarre that in my dream, I was trying to write the notes on a drawing, specifying something about mayonnaise. I wasn’t designing mayo, but the part that was to be manufactured required mayo. Maybe I’m working too hard. Maybe I’m losing it. Maybe I just need to win a big lotto jackpot and retire. Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out, cloudy and waaaaaay hyooomid, with a predicted high of _ONLY_ 82 (Well, get out the woolies!) with rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon accordin’ to TWPTB. This did not occur yestiddy (a little rain but that was all) so we shall see. Today is grocery day but I shall not go to the Pubic Sto’. The Harvey’s Sto’ has sales on some stuff I need so I shall shop there. Sonny’s has all their bbq poke dinners half-price today so we shall sup there this evenin’. Visions of pulled poke bbq dance in my haid! **CupCakes** may the squish be as painless as possible. **MetalMouse** safe travels! Hope there are no weather problems there and back. I ain’t off camping for another week yet! I’m just trying to organise stuff early 'cos I have an exam right before I head off, and I don’t want to be trying to do last minute organisation while getting ready for an exam. Also got a smaller test tomorrow, but I ain’t exactly worried about that’n, it’s the last 1/3 of the plant ID, and given what I got in the other two parts, I if I get more than 10% in this I think that’s enough to get me into the highest score bracket. Not that I’m doing a whole lot of revising for either. I probably should be, but my brain works better absorbing bits of information here and there rather than intense study. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. ---

I thought I was having a heart attack once - turns out it was my gallbladder. But that won’t happen again! 😃 Lunch break. I’ve been doing some drawings for a different group - Kinda makes me appreciate the guys I work with much more. I’ve never understood why some people make things so complicated. I’m sure paradigms have something to do with it. Plus people who have never had to build anything don’t think in terms of the people who have to make their designs work. The more I think about it, the more I think I’m about ready to retire. I think I can make it to September. 😃 ---

I’m a technical writer for a company that designs/builds/sells large industrial machines (won’t get into what type of large machines 'cause I don’t want to give it away). So I work with the engineers often and admire their abilities. But yeah, I get how annoying it is when people keep changing their minds. Like, I already have that instruction written. Why do you need to change it? ---

Off today. It’s been raining on and off so far. It’s on at the moment. Had a cheese omelet with spicy sauteed asparagus with tomatoes, bacon, and hash browns for brunch . Home, waiting for pizza to magically appear at the door. 😃 Just gotta get thru tomorrow, then pack and head south… again… According to the forecast, there’s 100% chance of rain in Orlando on Saturday, dammit. Here’s hoping they’re wrong. Then \*\*FCD \*\*needs to high-tail it back here because he has a meeting on Moanday. The next week should be insane. Life as we know it is about to change drastically. ---

Well the mammogram wasn’t so bad at all. The lady arranging things and taking the pictures got through it fast. She’s probably done it thousands of times, literally. While I was getting the bone density scan there was an intercom announcment that all the offices in the medical building could hear. _Code blue in the lobby, code blue in the lobby!_ The tech and I looked at each other and I said, _“does that mean what I think it means?”_ When I left the medical building there was an ambulance, a fire truck, and two hospital security vehicles. I didn’t try to find out what had gone on.
