# Did Ted Nugent really shit his pants to avoid the draft?

Scuttlebutt has it that Ted Nugent, upon recieving his Vietnam draft notice, completely disregarded hygiene for a month before reporting and then spent a week living in the same clothes that he relieved himself in. Needless to say, they decided that the future Motor City Madman was just a madman and sent him on his way.

It’s a funny story but the irony of such a staunch pro-military Republican actually doing it makes me suspicious… Too good to be true?

According to this story, he made up all kinds of bullshit for magazine interviews, but he was classified as 1-Y (student deferment):
