The contention is that, because it got called for Gore, the Gore voters didn’t bother going to the ballot box in the last hour or so, because hey, their guy won.
'Course, I’m not so sure how that translates into adding votes for a recall. Should we have given Gore, oh, a thousand consolation votes? Of course not. What the networks did or didn’t do, and the effects it had on the turnout, can’t be measured, and as such should be ignored.
