of course always theres dan akroyd on snls weekend report “jane you ignorant slut” I remember snl on syndication and people still getting pissed when that used that clip in a commercial…
Poe’s Law?
I don’t have time to watch it right now, but the date seems to be about right. However, I remember Brando being dressed much more casually (barefoot, even) and reclining on a lounge chair on a veranda. At one point, Larry King showed him something (I don’t remember what) and he said “What the fuck is that?” As I recall, he seemed to be high on something throughout the interview.
Brilliant!
NYPD Blue broke quite a few network barriers.
One of Franz’s earliest lines in the show, even before the very first opening credits, was in response to a DA (later to become his wife) who was criticizing him for screwing up a case.
ADA Costas: I’d say res ipsa loquitur, if I thought you knew what it meant.
Sipowicz (grabbing his crotch): Hey, ipsa this, you pissy little bitch!
The show frequently used terms like dickhead, piss off, asshole, tits. And we got to see Dennis Franz’s ass, and a whole lots of other asses too.
Was Hawkeye really the first to say “bastard” on TV (as a swear)?
I really, really, really don’t think this happened.
I’d love to see a cite.
mmm
Pretty sure it did. I seem to recall seeing that episode in reruns in the last few months, in fact.
He clearly wasn’t allowed to say it, but I remember Slash accepting an American Music Award and beginning his speech with, “I wanna thank fuckin’…oops.”
Found it. Video here.
In my memory, there was an immediate cut to the V.O. guy - “The American Music Awards will be back after this message.” Don’t know if that’s faulty memory, or if this video is from a different source. It still made me sit up and think, “did he just say that?”
IMDb - “The Trial of Henry Blake.” Margaret is using a neck vibrator on Frank’s shoulders and head. Hawkeye says the line.
Very similar to this.
In the original “Prison Break” One character is with a hooker and she says: “A Cleveland what?” And he replies, “I’ll talk you through it.”
There was a reference to this on Two and a Half Men the other night. But then, there’s almost nothing they don’t say on that show.
On Hill Street Blues, a police sniper was reprimanded for shouting “Got the sonuvabitch!” after he took down a perp; news cameras caught the whole thing. This was 1983-ish.
In 1986, on St. Elsewhere, Ed Flanders had the first bare-assed scene on network television as Dr. Westphall (Flanders) dropped his pants and mooned his new supervisor, Dr. Gideon (Ronny Cox) with the words, “You can kiss my ass, pal.”
