First, count me as one of those who will admit to freaking out. But (as I have said in other threads) it isn’t because Republicans control things. We’ve had that before, it will be OK. I am freaking out over who he is- completely unhinged and a professional con man. I mean, his “empire” is built on cons! He is going to use his office to enrich his businesses and family, and he will embarrass the nation on a daily basis. I don’t understand how one can get beyond those things, regardless of whether you like his policies. And it’s really pathetic how quickly the Congress is going to get in line and simply ignore their responsibilities as one of the checks and balances. Yuck ---

Arguing with Trump is like arguing with a bratty 3 year-old and his supporters are like the 3 year-old’s clueless parents. He can say outrageous non-sensical crap and if confronted with it denies he said it, changes the subject, calls you a name, or continues to claim it’s true no matter what evidence to the contrary exists. His clueless parent-like supporters just ignore his babbling, claim their baby never said such a thing, think the vulgar outbursts are “cute”, tell you what their baby really meant, or claim you’re picking on their kid. ---

He’s now tweeting that there was massive fraud in Virginia, New Hampshire and California, so that must mean he wants a recount. ---

You know what? If we’re going down in flames maybe we can at least enjoy the ride. The Democrats should assemble a team of people whose whole job is to come up with stuff that will get under his skin and make him lose his shit. They then feed this to key provocateurs (Warren?) who just play a game of poke the bear. Eventually he just might cross some line… Or at least Wait Wait! will be great for four years. ---

As long as his people are doing it so they can fake the results to make it look like he won there, I expect he’d love that. Trump is exactly the sort of guy who as dictator regularly holds elections where he “wins” by 90% plus of the vote. ---

Just remember folks, the USA got involved in the gulf wars thanks to an American diplomat essentially telling Saddam that the USA would not meddle in the affairs he had with Kuwait. Saddam thought that then it was a permission to invade Kuwait. I can foresee **worse** misunderstandings with the users of fake news and information cabinet that Trump is putting together. He’s flat out telling the American people that his own election is illegitimate because there were these 3 million votes, which is well beneath the number of votes Clinton needs in the a few swing states, which are fraudulent. And, he appears to have no idea that’s what he did. ---

From what I know of psychology, people who have an authoritarian streak (aka the base of the GOP) have a strong need for the world to make sense, to be simplistic and to feel safe, for there to be no gray areas, for cognitive closure to occur, etc. As a result they create a fantasy bubble to maintain this necessary delusion they need to fulfill those emotional needs (for the world to be simple, safe and black/white). All news and information is filtered to maintain the delusional bubble, all info that undercuts it is rejected. I saw something interesting about politics and climate change. Apparently the more educated a democrat or independent is, the more their views on climate change match those of scientists (it is real, humans are causing it). For republicans it was the opposite, the more educated the republicans the more they believed in myths and lies about climate change (it is a hoax, etc). Basically the smarter an authoritarian personality is, the better they are at constructing an elaborate fantasy world to maintain the delusion that the world is simple and predictable. People who are not conservative authoritarians, when they are smart and educated, use their intellect to understand reality. Conservative authoritarians who are intelligent and educated use those skills to develop a more advanced ‘safe space’ bubble. In one of the darkest ironies of it all, republicans (who are masters at projection) are railing against liberal ‘safe spaces’ at college campuses when the entire conservative misinformation bubble is one giant safe space. A place where facts don’t exist unless they uphold the delusional, but safe bubble authoritarians depend on to feel safe and to feel like life makes sense. Fox news, talk radio, right wing blogs, etc are just one giant safe space where they can pretend the world is a simple, black and white place with no gray areas since their personality type has trouble handling those things. There really is something to the fact that republicans project their own failings onto democrats. ---

The only part of your scenario which is unrealistic is that Trump would allow an election to occur in 2020. He is planning to eliminate elections and declare himself President-for-Life. ---
