emeraldia seems to be doing just fine. And I’m not directing “ire” at anyone. It’s one thing to discuss the lives of Martin and Zimmerman over the internet but it’s an entirely different matter to discuss what will or can be presented in court.
I prefer to discuss what is relevent to the court case. That may turn out to be information I may need to know at some point in time. Not for me, of course, but for “a friend”. However, this thread is about Martin’s right to stand his ground. I’ve already addressed that question but this is an open forum on the internet and threads wander.
There is no reason to believe that Martin or Zimmerman were perfect human beings. One side points out Martin’s flaws and the other side points out Zimmerman’s flaws. Hyperbole adds “spice” to both arguments.
I’ve been doing fine in this department, my friend. esmeraldia, however, hasn’t. That’s why I’m telling you to direct your scolding and wagging finger at her. I don’t need a lecture about what this topic is about.
Focus on reigning in the crazy people on “your” side and you will see less exasperation from “mine”.
I am not the droid you are looking for. You are responsible for you. If you can’t hold up your end, don’t expect me to do it for you. Nothing personal, just business. Take the gun, leave the baloney.
Maybe the guy was a big jerk- maybe even part of a terrorist cell that hasn’t been activated yet. Whose to say? All of his other co-workers at that place described Zimmerman favorably as a “joker” and “prankster”.
I never said that Zimmerman was perfect. It was wrong for him and his co-workers to make fun of this guy. But, in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing.
So is the fact that he “pushed” (not punched or kicked) a person in civilian clothes that seemed to be attacking his friend. The person turned out to be an undercover police officer. Judge Lester was aware of that kind of thing and made very little of it.
Same with the “restraining order”. Even that involved him “slapping” his girlfriend once(after she hit him) and telling her that now she knew how it felt. Like pushing the guy, there was no serious intent to hurt anyone. Everybody and their mother files restraining orders now and, as the judge said, this one was relatively minor as they go.
Other than that, he mentored children, spoke out on behalf of a homeless black man, volunteered for the neighborhood watch, etc. as Investigator Serino commented, Zimmerman was overall a “good guy” who tried to have a positive influence on things.
Please, take some deep breaths. You sound furious that I think Zimmerman is basically a decent, law-abiding person who cared about his community. Why the “exasperation”?
Zimmerman never disobeyed an order from the police. Actually, Zimmerman was remarkably cooperative with the police, never once invoking his right to an attorney, and answering all of their questions to the best of his ability.
Also, I don’t believe his intention was to “follow” Trayvon in the sense of pursuit, but to give the police an idea of where he may have run to. Which is certainly understandable given what he believed to be suspicious behavior from Martin.
Going back to the central topic for a moment-
Any open-minded person, informed about the timeline of events and of the physical locations of the events, applying reasonable thought to this information will conclude that Trayvon was not intent on “fleeing” a “pursuing” Zimmerman. It makes absolutely no sense given the known timeline and locations.
The chances of them convincing 12 unprejudiced jurors of this is extremely remote.
So, I think you should just drop the Zimmerman overtaking Martin to “bag him” approach, because you’re going to have to abandon it eventually. Just like you had to abandon the idea that Zimmerman was uninjured, hated black people, and the dozens of other pieces of the “original narrative” that the facts have forced to fall off.
I will continue to defend him. I think he is an innocent man that has been vilified by the media and unfairly charged by the judicial system.
Sniping at the abilities of other posters to argue a position and personal remarks about other posters will stop, now.
23 pages is nmore than enough time for everyone to have made up their minds, (or closed them down with their initial beliefs), and personal attacks are not going to persuade anyone on “the other side,” anyway.
That kid his wanton disregard of 911 murdered was part of the community. Also, that lying judge of a father of his part of the community. Also the person he married who lied to the court about finances is part of the community.
If Zimmerman is a decent guy, why didn’t he set the story straight on all the lies his father told that night?
Does a decent person conspire to lie to the courts to avoid bail?
Zimmerman is a lying sack of shit. Married to a lying sack of shit.
