No. The fact that I was confident in his victory already is part of the reason, of course. Mostly, though, it’s because the satisfaction I felt is not the sort that leads to tears. It leads to a fist clenched quietly in victory, to a gleam in the eyes, and to a fire in the gut. The beast is slain, though its brood will still devil us. The hunt was good. It is not a time to weep; it is a time to feel _fierce_. ---

When they called the election I was too jubilant to cry. There was jumping up and down and screaming though (along with several thousand others… I was in Grant Park). I did get choked up when he mentioned his Gramma in his acceptance speech, though. ---

almost, but mainly because i was cornered in a small room with two republicans who were NOT happy in the slightest. it was a little scary. ---

I’m very incoherent right now. I don’t want to start a thread. I didn’t realize it would affect me this much. There’s a chance, a small chance, but a chance nonetheless, that we might pull ourselves out of the shit, turn back the tide of idiocracy, and make our country and the world what it could be. I don’t know what I believe, but God bless America. And yes, I am crying right now. I don’t believe it but I am. ---

I had to wipe away tears when his family came out on stage and again during his speech. I didn’t expect to be affected so much but this is all just so amazing. ---

Yeah, I was all teary during the speech, but was more or less screaming when it was declared. I am completely psyched. That speech was for the ages. I went ahead and jumped back into the stock market (I fucked up and waited until Tuesday). I am jubilant. I don’t know if he will succeed in turning around America, but he’s the guy who can pull it off if it’s possible. ---

I’m still tearing up and crying (I’ll admit it this time- no freak dust storms or anything), I’m pretty much crying- I cried when he made his speech, when they showed others crying, and hell, i’ve been crying for the last hour or so just finally reading the Doper Election thread (So much easier to read when you know how it ends). Man. I really am proud to be a part of history. It just feels special. I had no idea i’d be affected this way, but it’s just something ridiculously cool. I also really liked the comparisons to Abe Lincoln- one of my fav. presidents and when it was on the Daily show, i thought it was quite clever, and when Obama actually mentioned Lincoln during the speech, i started to tear up as well. I hope this is what Change feels like and that it lasts. Because right now, i have no idea what the future holds come next year… but I feel good about it. ---

Nope. I had nodded off in front of the set and when they said _NBC IS PROJECTING BARACK OBAMA IS THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES_ I sat up and yelled _HOLY SHIT!!1!_ 😃 ---

I was watching the coverage, but was more like “hey, cool, let’s see how everyone else is reacting.” I was happy, but in more of a smug way than a “great moments in history” way, for whatever reason. I didn’t see his acceptance speech though, so watching that may sway me. ---
