Did you ever skip a grade?

We moved from Bogotá to Canada mid way through 5th grade. When my dad enrolled me in school in Toronto I skipped the rest of 5th and started middle school - 6th grade.
Then it was time to learn English, and get used to kids calling me “Pat” instead of my real name - Phaedra. For some idiotic reason my dad introduced me to the kids in the cul-de-sac as Pat. Then told me that Patricia was my middle name - which was news to me!! And turned out to be false. I have no middle name, but somehow (I have no idea how he pulled it off) all of my legal documents state Patricia as my middle name. All except my birth certificate.

So I skipped half a grade and it has not affected my adult life in any way.

Similar here. Our grade school was primary school K-4 and middle school 5-8, and then high school 9-12. I skipped eighth grade but my father had also taught my brother and me Algebra at home so I could place out of that and go to 10th grade math in 9th. I also took Calculus at community college before senior year so I only sporadically attended the HS Calculus class.

It was suggested several times in my grade school/middle school years that I either skip a grade or be enrolled in a good private school. Neither one happened, mostly due to my mother’s issues but whatever. I figured out how to skip my senior HS year and go to the local university. I LOVED IT!!!

I was hampered by the fact I was 17, couldn’t drink and was considered jailbait, but I managed. HS just seemed to me to be too much unrelenting BS. This opinion of HS did not prevent me from going to my HS reunion yesterday LOL
